Dawson is now correctly listed as taking Best Color Guard.

Thanks for clarifying that. I was trying to figure it out. It looks like there's an error on the DMI website. Dawson took the Guard Caption, but Coppell is listed as outstanding guard.

I don't have a dog in this fight, and while I'm thrilled for all the bands that made finals and the 6 bands going to state to represent Area D, I'm still floored that Round Rock isn't one of them. They had that early performance time and they must have had a very rough prelim show (because if they marched as they typically do, they would have made finals). How often do we hear, "Anything can happen." when it comes to marching competition and judging? This really proves it. I hope Round Rock does great at BOA! Those students have earned the right to be the leader of the pack. I also hope our six Area D bands march as well next Tuesday at the Alamodome as they did on Saturday.

Round Rock swept captions in prelims for 5A. Captions weren't announced in finals.

I wasn't trying to go down any negative route. Very clearly, Cedar Park brought it to the Alamodome. I am constantly blown away by the dedication of students, directors and parents in band programs throughout Texas. Once again this year, there was excellence on the field throughout the day. I never meant to diminish that by my comment.

Didnt' mean to sound indignant. Just curious. Every band going in yesterday stood a chance of going to finals and every band in finals stood was capable of taking first. It was a great line up of hard working students. I was very impressed with all of the bands and the sportsmanship shown.

Congratulations to Centennial! They did great! All 4 Area D Bands were in Finals! That's a tough area too.
