  1. I came from there, so I'm not sure if it's any help, but I can try to explain. First off though, I love quick drill and good music; it definitely makes for a much more exciting (and better - if done correctly) show. Now, I wouldn't go as to say that the judges like Coppell "so much." It has the bias-like connotation to it. People could then say "Why do people like Marcus or Bell so much?" Judges like it when bands really pull off the music and drill. Being a former member (and watching them in the stands), Coppell is a band that can really pull together the music and drill really well, and judges tend to like that sort of stuff. HOWEVER, judging is a mixed-reaction sort of thing; some judges like the music, some don't like it. Others like the drill, others don't like it. It all depends. (Hopefully this made some sort of sense.)
  2. sax, i do have to disagree with the fact "big name" bands get by with stuff. and think about it, it was only a first time offense. i mean, a DQ the for the first offense is a bit serious. and honestly, the soundboard probably wouldnt even be a detriment to our show. but UIL did reprimand us (to what i've heard, but i dont know much about that, so ill keep it to its what i've heard.) and also sax, UIL can decide what punishment is fitting for the band. http://www.uil.utexas.edu/policy/constitution/08_09subE.pdf
  3. im not arguing with the rules at all. its just the fact that people are still talking about this. -_____-
  4. ok. this seriously needs to be dropped. again, UIL has made their decision, and a lot of people are going to get sick of this. yes, i am from coppell, and i do know all about what happened, but this issue is really getting tiring right about now.
  5. im not completely sure if im going to play this, but... im trying blue bells of scotland (pryor). being a trombone and hearing it from a professional, its gonna be a difficult solo, but its a lot of fun :]
  6. i agree with the fact we need to move on. its seriously getting tiring. UIL made their decision, and that's all that there is.
  7. yeah, a lot of people are going to be busting their butts to get ready. this is gonna be tough, but a great competition.
  8. coming from coppell, im going to have to say that it's going to be really tough for us to make state this year. bands like duncanville, sachse, berkner, and rowlett are great bands (if i forgot any, im sorry, but those are the ones that came off the top of my head), and i think it'll turn out to be a great match-up, and we'll see who makes it to state. as of now though, i really cant give any predictions, because as i said, there are those great bands that i mentioned earlier, and it's going to be tough.
