Yes, Jim Best has retired. He will be missed, but we have been here before, and the Sound of the Swarm will continue business as usual.

Mineola beat everybody twice, and beat them in finals on a bad run........yes, they were beatable in finals, but not by anybody in the 3A classification this year. They are playing a different game than the competition. I enjoyed everyone's comments this season, looking forward to next season.

There was some bad juju in San Antonio this year. Many schools were negatively affected by many different issues. Karma will do its thing. Congrats to all the State qualifying bands.

Mineola ranked 1st by all judges.

That's the wildest thing I've seen in a long time leaving Mineola out of the top 3. We shall see tomorrow.

Great post, hit the nail on the head. We love our friends at Redwater and congratulations to them, but we will see how it shakes out in the Dome.

FYI this is the biggest we (Mineola) has ever been. Added about 30 kids over last year. Will add close to another 30 next year based on current enrollment.

UIL scheduling killed us last year, which is why we moved it to Saturday. Historically we have always had 25 plus bands. It's going to be a great time.
