Really? Harlingen that low? And what’s with Weslaco so low?! They are the real deal this year!! They probably have one of the best shows this year!! Also no way Hanna gets higher than top 4 in my opinion. Just saying based on my opinion. I was right about them last time. -

I guess I got it right. I wanna see a video of their City of Palms run to see what happened. Any area predictions getting shaken up because of this? PSJA in the top 7? Some really good bands may not make finals this year? -

Got to watch Hanna and San Benito (it was a crazy eventful day) and I have some comments. San Benito is so much cleaner this year! Wow! I love that for them. That’s gonna be sick to watch later on. Hanna was a little more complete but still not done with the show. Where they did end off was kind of cool it sounded loud but a lot of the show lacks in content. Not only that but visually it’s still very messy and their ballad is very shaky (sounds like a soloist got off again). I like the movement before they’re closer (I would assume) but it’s very lacking in wind writing. Percussion was a mess, guard was good. I change my mind, they will make finals, but 5-7th. Maybe when they add their closer it’ll be a 8/10 for me -

Hanna isn’t it this year, I’ve been saying it. They usually lock in but they don’t have their 4th movement out yet and Normally that would be a good thing you know, like you don’t have your show finished but many other schools don’t have their closer on the field yet, but are still cleaner. I hope the props look cool if they use them soon. Nothing really stood out to me with the show playing, visually, the show just feels kind of uninspired in its design. The only cool thing is the solos in my opinion. And yeah, content scores are a good telling of how a band will place rather than achievement because it’s how much they can go up rather than how much can you clean I think. -

I mean, just look at the video from last week. In the ballad there’s a form where people just start marching randomly and do random visuals out of time on both sides, not only that but either the band tore musically or the arrangement is weird. Not to mention, there was some collisions in the first 2 movements. -

Heard a rumor out of nowhere that Hanna may not show up to the competition on Saturday due to unpreparedness. The head director or someone said how they want to take the band out because it would be a waste of time. Something to watch out for. -

My predictions for this upcoming contest 1. Los Fresnos 2. Weslaco 3. Edinburgh 4. Harlingen 5. Veterans 6. Hanna 7. Econemedes Haven’t heard Weslaco yet but I hear they are really good. Usually are better than Edinburgh but who knows, they might take 2nd? Harlingen will beat veterans, the sound is good. Vets also has a more complete and clean show then Hanna. -

I agree I like Harlingens show it’s pretty interesting the concept. I didn’t know Edinburg north was going. I didn’t know UISD was this week?? -

there’s a video on Hanna on YouTube just look up Hanna band 2025 and it pops up. their ballad is very unclean and seems like it tears (synth plays while the drum major is still conducting, don’t know if it’s intentional) and it just feels off. there’s people stepping off at random and hitting visuals just to hit them again and timing is everywhere. 1st movement was much cleaner last week and the sound actually had me a little hopeful for them (they sounded pretty good and more Hanna-like) but this past performance was 5 steps backwards. Can someone tell me what’s really going on? Any issues that can be messing with them this year? Would be really sad for a known contender and strong program to go out like this, I hope there isn’t any drama and this is as people say just part of the process. just am not used to Hanna being this bad this late. it’s getting a little too late at this point to trust the process -

Can we have a discussion about Hanna and the La Dama de la Rojo? Watch their most recent performance and you will see that they haven’t finished their ballad yet (and what they did play, tore apart pretty badly), the opener and 2nd movement feels really dirty still, lots of visual issues, and Area is in less than a month. Can anyone tell me what’s going on there? I’ve been thinking there’s a staff change, but again no confirmation on that. Feel bad for the kids putting in all their effort for that show. -

Have you even heard or watched them? Hanna is super behind and doesn’t even sound clean nor does it make sense. Maybe the ending will? Don’t think so. What story are they trying to tell? Again, it feels uninspired and bland. They sound okay, visually it’s not very dirty anymore, but it’s not “clean”. Edinburgh has a fun cool theme that I enjoyed but the brass could be cleaner. I like the energy, they sound loud! Visually it’s shaky but I like the theme. I mean have you heard Weslaco this year? They are the real deal next to JBA and LF -

So JBA is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year I assume. Haven’t seen the show yet, is it on YouTube? Anyways I have them solidifying their spot at making state. LF Weslaco and United are the only other ones I see having a shot at competing for the other spots. -

Alexander was ok, expected a little more but it sounds good. LF has good brass and woodwinds but don’t think they will pass Alexander. State appearance this year for them maybe. Haven’t seen United yet, no comment. Hanna has a lot of timing issues and I felt like the brass was dirtier in some of the feature spots. Opening hit was better but still hasn’t grown on me. Very unfinished show still, they added visuals but they look awkward and out of place at times, probably due to the timing issues. Has there been a major staff change? Weslaco was okay, but the ending was pretty unclean, assuming it was recently learned. Great percussion from them though. The woodwinds are also standing out but not as much as the brass, but otherwise a solid program. They can make state if they take 3 bands. Not mentioned was Harlingen, what happened to them? I thought they had a decent program. -

It’s just the quality of what’s being put out. I understand the process that Hanna does and why they take forever, and it’s pretty smart. They don’t move on until what they are working on is 100% that way when they do finish the show, it’s ridiculously clean and unrushed. The only issue is it doesn’t seem like much progress is being made and again, it sounded a lot dirtier. The more I listen to it the solos sound awkwardly placed and unlike Hanna. (minus front ensemble the front ensemble gets me jamming). Still can’t hear the low brass/trombones :/ what do you think the top 7 will be? -

Watched the Hanna vs Edinburgh livestream (the QB I think got really hurt, hope he gets better soon). Edinburgh sounds pretty good can’t lie, they have a really fun show, the circus theme is really really cool. Feel like the show could be a little more beefed up, more difficult, but it sounds good. (They didn’t play today but I heard an older stream) I think we need to start having uncomfortable discussions about Hanna. They play half of their opener and stand still for a minute and then leave. With competitions coming up soon, will they have enough time to finish their show before Pigskin and Area? The other area of concern is it is visually messy and musically a little unclean, unlike Hanna’s normal sound. Has there been a major staff change and this is a transitional year? -

This is the case I normally assume based on prior years that I’ve heard but don’t know how slow is too slow and where the panic button is for that. (For reference they marched for about like 50 seconds on the slow intro sections and stood and played like a minute and a half, which is what they did the last game.) my guess is the show was designed a little too difficult. Seems like a show where you either nail it and get top 2 or drop out design wise. I got told to trust Hanna and everyone had doubts about last year so. Still a little dissapointed at the brass sound, especially on the low end. anybody listen to the Laredo schools? opinions on those?
