  1. I do agree though, RRISD percussion is definitely on the rise, all placed top half at TMC in percussion and someday in the near future I would like to see Mcneil, Westwood, Cedar Ridge, and Round Rock all at the state competition, facing off with a real percussion judge to see who the best percussion section is. I have seen all 4 of their shows and battery lots this year and its so cool to see that level of music being executed that well. I would like to see Round Rock make the trip down but also its a pretty long drive too from austin and im sure Mcneil and Westwood are going to get back at 2 am and especially with it being after San antonio and state, sometimes its just not worth all the trouble, glad to see Westwood and Mcneil going though, cant wait to see what they do after this fabolous year.
  2. Rick Rod is a judge a lonestar, I dont think it would be fair or possible for him to judge his own drumline
  3. Yeah, its obviously not gonna happen just because of competition but there are bands who could make finals or get really good scores at state who cant even make state due to there area. Take area D for example, westwood went to state last year and got 16th place, just 2 outside of finals also scoring 11th in percussion, the very next year cant even make state. Texas marching band, nothing else quite like it. Ive said it before and ill say it again, any marching student who can in texas, go and audition for DCI, you can do it and if you just dont know where to start, lots of marching band directors in this state know each other and either teach DCI or knows somebody who teaches DCI. Just go to a camp, you might be pleasantly surprised
  4. Anybody have full finals recap? I know that scores are posted online but i would really like to see some of the judges and the in depth scores
  5. Nah there are better bands who didnt make state, its unfair to call mcneil, westwood, churchill, and Bowie worse then these bands. And thats just naming a few
  6. I dont think so, unless you are always a top half group, its hard to be a consistent state finlaist, epecially withj the area like Area D who never send the same 5 bands to state every year
  7. What is bad about there time slot, If anything it plays to their advantage because once they hear Vista perc, every group will get compared to them, if none are better, easy first
  8. ^. Maybe time affected them a little but the main 2 reasons are percussion, and ge
  9. I know that its easy to compare from UIL to Boa but it is just not that simple. Different ways of judging, UIL typically cares more about how clean you are as there is no GE caption and you should technically get the same score with no props, also in UIL state there is a Percussion caption which is not there in Boa. Boa tends to focus on show design and props more and not as big a focus on percussion.
  10. I mean can you say you are surprised, now before you respond to this lets think about this. at Boa competetions this year, they have lost a lot of bands, just look at San Marcos and yeah they have gotten better but obviously there is something about their show that Boa just does not like, UIL does have a different judging system and method, although that area D contest should not influence peoples opinions too much, kinda hard to take it seriously
  11. And just like that I am proven wrong, cant say i am to mad about it, FloMo deserved it, congrats to all bands here, for those going to state on monday have fun, for those going to grand nats i want to see a texas band win that so badly, and for those ending there season here congrats on a great year, the result is not everything if today did not go your way, keep trying and you will succeed, even if its not in marching bnad
  12. Do you know who writes for Vista, I see the boston in them with Brian Perez being their new percussion director so I wouldnt be surprised to see Mcnutt there too with their close relationship
  13. I do love a good mcnutt drumline like FloMo and Im pretty sure he writes for RR too. I also do like the Markworth writing, love how clean Mcneils battery is doing with it, would love to see some harder music for them. Like i said before I love Marcus battery, always like how Keenan Wylie shapes these kids
  14. My favorite show tonight, Marcus, I am a huge battery guy so that's probably why but i just love their show, final prediction for winner is Hebron, they are taking the dub
  15. 1. Hebron 2. Flower Mound 3. Vandegrift 4. Marcus 5. Vista Ridge 6. The Woodlands 7. Rouse 8. Ronald Reagan 9. Pearland 10. Cedar Ridge 11. Cedar Park 12. Round Rock 13. Coppell 14. Mcneil 15. Seven Lakes
  16. Thats literally what ive been saying this whole time, penstriped is best, everything else is just change over time, because change is everything(Only some will get it)
  17. I mean ig audience but scores can change over time so I stand with my intial argument, if the winning band today scores higher then penstriped or whatever their show was in 22, will you call it better then that show or every show that it has beat, probably not
  18. It might happen, but im going with hebron, cant wait to say I told you so at the end
  19. Ok but like judges can make scores however high or low, thats why you cant cross scores over contests or years.
  20. Spoiler, its hebron, you can say what you want but in my opnion it will be hebron, love the rocky point holiday, I played it in high school and just a really cool show overall, this is my prediction for winner, though i will say flower mounds show is amazing, great Ge
  21. Agreed, after penstriped i cant think of marching band the same, that is just the new standard for the winner and in my opinion, nobody has been able to beat it so far.
  22. Flower mound is no doubt good, hebron probably winning it, after that my prediction is Flo mo, Woodlands, Vandy, Marcus
