  1. I need to go find & watch videos of their shows this week.
  2. Have you looked at the new scoring sheets? You think judges would be choosing finalists based on size? The new score sheets & judges guide aim to bring focus back to music & marching (and doing both at the same time).
  3. I'd rather have the alternate weather day like most other areas do instead of performing in the indoor bubble. Lindale loses out on money from concessions & things too. Can the judges even get up high in the indoor facility to see formations?
  4. That's just ridiculous. Many schools will leave the football games early, but even with that...
  5. I hope it does. Several Bands from Region 10 for example, have around a 4 hour drive without stops. So most are reporting to school at 6-7 that morning. There are bands with a 1 hour or 1.5 hour drive performing after them at the end of the day. A more central location (with more parking) for future Area C contests would be a big improvement.
  6. I have a personal list of 13 bands I think the top 12 will come from. Beyond that, I will not even try. With having two weeks between Regionals & Area, a LOT can change.
  7. They really need to find a new location. It was tight parking last year with just 15 bands. This year there are 24. So that could be 30-40 additional buses plus their trucks for props, uniforms, instruments, etc. AND both the spectators & students for 9 more bands. They need a new location or less bands per area...
  8. So you think that ALL 5A & 6A bands sound great?
  9. They are serious about it too. One of the guides on judging even states something like: "In Texas we march and play, not march then play." Some of the bands I have seen video of could potentially lose significant points there.
  10. They weren't far from being bumped to 5A. "Sounds" like a 6A or 5A is really not a great description for any band though. There are 5A & 6A schools in Texas marching 50-75 performers. Honestly, there are some 5A & 6A bands that are not strong performing bands at all actually... The judges are always the unknown. Celina didn't have a large band last year or a high dollar marching show with lots of props etc. They won state because of their scores for musical execution and marching precision.
  11. Are you from Lumberton? You completely left out North Lamar?
  12. Will be 12 going to finals
  13. Did some looking and there are only 8 bands I saw left this week. Wills Point is not on the schedule for Region 3.
  14. 9 Bands from Region 10 qualified. West Orange Stark 2 Hargraves 1 LCM 1 Hamshire-Fannett 1 Hardin Jefferson 1 Bridge City 1 Jasper 2 Lumberton 1 Livingston 1 Silsbee 2 Liberty 1 Vidor 1
