While this is true, we can't really compare them to Argyle. Argyle became state champs with no other band being even close to them and were also beating more 5A bands when they were 4A compared to Celina. The main reason Celina were state champions was because Argyle left and is barely holding on to that spot when competing with bands like Panther Creek. After seeing the cutoffs that have been released, Wakeland is 100% going up to 6A as the cutoff is 2215 and they have 2446 if I remember correctly.

2026-2027 UIL Realignment

If you want to keep it as a ratio, you could do something where if one band from that area gets a medal, you could change the state qualifier ratio from 5:1 to 4:1 for that area (even if 2 or 3 medalists are from the same area that area will only have a ratio of 4:1 but could add 1 or 2 extra spots if more that one finalist is in the same area to show off more competitive areas). This makes it so there are maybe 3-7 more state spots which I think is fair. -

I don't think we need a medalist rule for UIL. However, for changing the amount of area bands needed for a state slot, I think we should decrease in from 5 bands to 4 bands. Anything lower than that would lead to too many state slots. -
They had an enrollment of 1230 so they'll probably stay in 4A.

Here are the bands I believe should be at this area next year (these are not in order of what I think their placements will be next year in any way and is just a list): Lovejoy HS Sherman HS Denison HS Anna HS Melissa HS Community HS (moving up from 4A) Celina HS (moving up from 4A) Aubrey HS (moving up from 4A) Argyle HS Denton HS The Colony HS Ryan HS Prosper Richland HS (moving up from 4A) Panther Creek HS (moving up from 4A) McKinney North HS (extreme rezoning) Frisco HS Reedy HS Frisco Memorial HS (they are not moving down to 4A) Frisco Liberty HS Frisco Independence HS Emerson HS Frisco Heritage HS Frisco Centennial HS Lone Star HS Lebanon Trail HS Schools leaving this area: Prosper Walnut Grove (Moving up to 6A) Wakeland HS (May or may not move up to 6A but I've seen more people say they are moving up to 6A) There are 25 schools that are basically guaranteed to be in this area. This means there are 5 state spots in this area if every band makes it to area. I won't make any predictions until the season starts because some bands could be better or worse depending on many factor that a band can and can't control.

From what I saw in the Realignment forum, Community might move up to 5A with Celina which means there could be 25 bands with 5 bands at state.

We have to remember that Melissa did a TON of cleaning after that and before area to get their area finals result plus the fact that McKinney is pretty early in the season. If we're talking about area, Celina will at the worst be at the bottom half of finals or in the bubble for finals and at their best be competing for 5th or 4th if they are rezoned to 5A Area B.

Vandegrift turned in 2361 so they will stay in 6A. -

As a student from Heritage, our band director talked to their band directors and the reason was just to give the kids the weekend off so that they could catch up on some well needed rest and other things so they could put their all into the next two weeks. -

I personally think that the top 2 are most likely going to be the same. However, I do think that 3-10 could be in almost any order and that any of these bands could make finals. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of these bands didn't make finals and some other Frisco school made finals here instead.
