    Agreed. But I would assume UIL made sure this wouldn’t be the case otherwise they would’ve done it. Steve was a great fine arts director and shouldn’t be put down based off others opinions (not facts) of how they feel things will go

    Assuming that a person will sacrifice their job and livelihood to help a program achieve something that they didn’t deserve is naive also to assume. This region always wants to bring up “cheating” when things don’t go the way of the people. I believe WM, NM, and Poteet are all going to make state this year just from going to comps they have attended this year so far and they have all been great. Of course still things to work on.

    Yes that is correct I meant to put 2 years ago in my original message. But again I don’t see this being a conflict of interest if anything I would think he would be more tough on said programs

    You do know all the directors from those schools were already directors in MISD. WM director came from a feeder middle school of NM. Poteet director is literally their old assistant director. This is also why there are 5 judges for scoring. One person isn’t going to hold the fate of every program. As I stated if all 3 schools make it to state it will be because they’ve earned a deserved it.

    That was over 2 years ago. I don’t think any fine arts director or judge at that would sacrifice their merits for any program to win a state spot without actually earning it. If Mesquite Isd has all 3 bands make state it’s because they’ve all worked hard and earned those positions.

    West took 2nd in prelims and had the outstanding visual caption 5a, outstanding auxiliary color guard 5a

    Went to their district showcase tonight and West had their full closer with sets (will be nice when perfected). Not sure why they skipped out of doing it this past Saturday. Most definitely see them coming for a state spot. North and Poteet where both great also

    Looks like West Mesquite is passing this up for the contest in Princeton

    Pretty good shows for sure. In my opinion I wasn’t a huge fan of Kaufmans show. Also have to remember the 3 5a schools from Mesquite weren’t ranked since they hosted the festival makes it really hard to tell who’s doing better without those 3 programs that are doing well also.

    Just from previous years Red Oak has always done fairly well. I personally haven’t seen their program this year but from what I have seen I might be jumping my prediction on them. HP just isn’t doing as good as they use to in previous years.

    Top 5 1. Kaufman 2. North Mesquite 3. Poteet 4. West Mesquite/ Red Oak After today can most definitely see this as the lineup

    Most definitely think West Mesquite is going to bring some upsets this season. Can see Mesquite ISD having all 3 bands make state this year.
