  1. Has anyone noticed the amount of props being moved around on the field by many of the corps, with varying degrees of success? I know a lot of high schools are influenced by the drum corps activity. Unless they have the manpower to move props, I would suggest they leave them stationary or keep things simple. I am thrilled the Blue Coats won San Antonio. Their show is just exciting to watch. The one big stage that morphs throughout the show to smaller platforms, is handled well by the performers. The Blue Devils had a couple days off and it seems they used their time well to clean their marching and music. In years past, I would think the Blue Coats would need to be worried as the Blue Devils usually have one more major something to reveal that allows them to maintain their lead or overtake the Corp in front of them score wise. Only time will tell if the Blue Coats can hang on to their margin of victory or not. Of course, you only need to win by .0001 ahead of 2nd place. We can't forget the Boston Crusaders who scored just tenths of a point from the Blue Devils.
  2. Thanks for responding Tubalord11. I can now see the list. On the BOA site, I was clicking on the View Enrollment Tab thinking I would see the list there instead of the Register for BOA 2024.
  3. I noticed BOA has a post of their regional and Championship but they do not have the names of the schools attending thus far. Will somebody please let us know the names of the bands planning to participate? BOA currently has the contest listed along with the number of spots still available or join 5he waiting list. Thanks for your assistance.
  4. I am happy to see the Blue Coats and Boston doing well. What can Carolina Crown do to close the scoring gap? When I first saw their show on YouTube in late June, I thought WOW! They may have a chance to win or be in the top 3. Another thing, I don't get the Blue Devil's show The Romantics. Why do you think they are scoring so well? Anyway please respond so I can hear what you think is going on.
  5. I drove to San Antonio a few years ago from Upstate South Carolina and hope to be there this year. I love the high school marching bands and drum corps competitions. While I am no longer a band director, I am still an adjudicator for GE, Music, and Marching so I stay involved in that manner. There is nothing like seeing the shows live or in person. I admire those participating in the marching arts for their commitment, sacrifices, and financial contributions. I am concerned about the financial part as it is getting so expensive. I don't know what the answer is to that part, but something must be done before more corps fold or have to take a hiatus. The same for the competitive high school marching bands. Bands of America, Youth Education in the Arts/YEA, and other marching band circuits also need to be concerned about cost including tickets.
  6. Here's a novel thought: What if DCI did like the college football rankings, and waited a few weeks before assigning scores? You could give feedback to the corps leading up to that 1st big Saturday the 2nd week in July when all of the big corps have performed their show a few times. Perhaps the judges could then spent more time sharing what they are hearing and seeing without concern for a score. The audience could complete their own brackets to see how close they were to the first official rankings. Perhaps by waiting a couple of weeks, some corps may actually place higher. This could also enable the adjudicators to fly to competitions across the US to see the corps. They could also have access to video shot the same way for each Corp so the judges could see each show a few times prior to their first ranking. This is again similar to the college football judging/viewing each week before announcing their top 25. Just something to think about....
  7. Thanks Tubalord11 for the SC contest scores explanation. I wish DCI would put that in the scores section as in years past when they would list the show as exhibition, stand still, or canceled due to weather. I am praying for safe travels for each Corp, staff, and other participants. I am praying likewise for those traveling to and from shows as spectators. With the various weather concerns, I am praying everybody is being spared or enduring, especially those participants whose family may be dealing with the fires, extreme heat, and/or hurricane/tornadoes and flooding. I have never seen such extremely dangerous weather so early. Here's To All Competitions taking place as scheduled.
  8. Ok, I need your help. Where are the scores from the 2 South Carolina DCI Shows Conway, and Lexington? Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated. Also, how has attendance been at shows thus far?
  9. Where are scores from the 2 SC shows?
  10. Can anyone help me find the Grand National Championship Schedules? Once again, I am trying to finalize my transportation and housing plans. I realize it is a 3 day/night event, but I really need the schedules.
  11. Thanks for responding. Where are you getting the information. I hate asking, but BOA is not posting the schedules in a timely manner. Does anyone have the Grand National Schedules? I am planning to travel to Indianapolis and I need to see the prelims schedule so I can finalize my travel plans. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
