Somehow the list of bands for the Youngstown, Ohio Regional are showing up under the BOA San Antonio Super Regional predictions.
Kind of too early to be posting BOA predictions since the roster has yet to be finalized. Official schedules will be posted by Bands of America a couple of weeks prior to the event.
Just wanted to give a heads up!!

QUOTE (MartinHorn @ Jun 21 2006, 01:53 AM) But now we can focus more on the DCI season. Now if only they would televise the competitions. I highly recommend subscribing to the DCI Season Pass if you haven't already it. It's worth shelling out the money.

Also, just like last year, DCI will be televised on ESPN2 sometime in September.

The Cavaliers are still distancing themselves from the rest of the competition and the Bluecoats are picking up where they left off last year...keeping it close with the Phantom Regiment!
Yikes, for the Scouts. Hopefully the numbers start to rise as the season progresses.
Comparing scores this early in the season isn't a good indicator of the future, but it's really good to see the Santa Clara Vanguard score on par with the Bluecoats & Phantom Regiment. This should be an exciting season!

QUOTE (TX Suh-nare @ Jun 17 2006, 08:12 PM) 1. One time, according to legend, Carmel High School won Grand Nats in the 80s with NO percussion section. Hard to believe, yes indeed. You must be thinking of another band.....
Carmel didn't start attending BOA Grand Nationals until 1994 and they won their first Grand National title this past year in 2005.

The Rice University football team has a home game on October 14th so BOA was forced to move the Houston Regional elsewhere. This is unfortunate because there are mass renovations going on at Rice Stadium right now. The stadium is going to be BEAUTIFUL once all is said and done. Hope to see the Houston Regional back at Rice in 2007. I do applaud BOA for keeping the Houston Regional on the 14th though. It's much better than the first weekend of October.
Anyways, Pearland High School is an excellent choice to host a Bands of America Regional. They have one of the finest high school venues in the Houston area. And hey, Pearland is right up the highway from me!

QUOTE (CHS King Mello @ Jun 16 2006, 08:34 AM) just some random high school band from SC, but:
Clover High School is doing a show called "Insomnia"
We're playing music from Wild Nights from Harmonium, by John Adams (ala Phantom 03.)
Sleep, by Eric Whitacre.
Without Warning, by Steve Mellilo.
-CIf you want to check out other marching band versions of those pieces...I highly recommend....
Wild Nights - Plymouth Canton EP, MI 2001 or The Woodlands HS, TX 2004
Sleep - Richland HS, TX 2005
Without Warning - Irmo HS, SC 2003
(Btw, I hope everyone on the SC Forum is behaving. I haven't been on there since March. If anyone asks, tell them all is well and I'm not dead!)

QUOTE (fourmalleteer @ Jun 15 2006, 08:23 AM) Anyone remember Spring 2000? I wasn't in high school yet, but I've heard many stories. It was the Altered State show. Politics against the show....could you clarify??
If I remember correctly, Spring was pretty successful that year.

Not a fan of the uniform so far however....
I will reserve further judgement until I see the corps next weekend in California. What matters most is how the uniforms looks on the field and how it enhances the visual design of the show. Something that we have yet to see.
-
Looks like someone has been playing with white guard tape.....

If you have any question or just need some advice.....
I highly recommend contacting Dan Valdez, one of our staff members on Texas Bands.
Dan was a member of the BOA Summer Symposium's Team SWAG last year and was also a drum major at Winston Churchill HS in 2001 & 2002.
