  1. Let me clarify my remarks from earlier. I've been to SA for 8 straight years. I've never personally felt threatened, that wasn't the point of my post. I was simply portraying the city as it actually is - dirty, unkept, the homeless are unavoidable. We did have a band mom and another band dad who were assaulted over the last few years by homeless who wouldn't take no for answer when they asked for money. Those are all facts. If you disagree, you haven't been to SA. I did leave out 2 things you may also experience in SA - there are people on the street and in the mall near the river walk that try to sell you tickets to different things like Seaworld, river walk boat cruises, Six Flags - they don't take no for an answer and there is another group around the corner who will ask you the same thing. Also, if you like the smell of marijuana as you walk around town you will love SA. SA leadership needs to just clean up the city. It's the dirtiest city I recall going to in quite a while. Pay attention as you drive around and you'll see it. I have 2 years of UIL left and will be glad to never have to go there again.
  2. Prepare to be amazed by the bands and disgusted at the city. I've been going to San Antonio for the last 8 years for UIL Finals and BOA and I can tell you without a doubt that San Antonio is the last place in Texas I want to visit. Outside of the riverwalk area with the restaurants and shops there is nothing, nothing, nothing redeeming about that town. And the riverwalk ain't that great. Homeless people everywhere and you have to walk alot. From the hotel to the dome to the riverwalk, restaurants, etc. Each time you are out on the streets you will encounter numerous homeless people. Most leave you alone but in the last few years we've had 2 band parents assaulted. The town is dirty and generally unkept. Outside of band there is no reason to visit San Antonio.
  3. Scheduling changed this year due to Marcus (the host) going to Grand Nationals.
  4. That's because until today you didn't compete against Marcus . Just joking. I saw Vista's show and their percussion was really good too. I think this is 3 years in a row Marcus took best percussion at state. Marcus percussion is a big deal every year going back many years. IYKYK. All the finalst bands were great. Some just pulled the whole thing together when it counted better than others. Judging is always subjective but these guys doing the judging are professionals who's ability to judge music is better than 99.99999% of those of us commenting here. This is my 9th year going to state with our school, sometimes the winner is dead obvious to everyone, sometimes the judges leave you scratching your head a little but the kids always do an amazing job closing it out and leaving it all out on the field for us.
  5. Anyone have scores from the last event last night with Hebron, Marcus, FloMo?
