Austin ISD is requiring Anderson not to attend because they canceled after school activities. I also believe Bowie might be canceled.
-
Austin ISD is under reverse evacuation (which means that they aren't allowed to leave the classroom). This really only affects Anderson, since Bowie doesn't perform until tomorrow morning.
-
Northwest Austin is taking a real beating. I'm not sure how the northwest Austin schools going (Anderson and Vandegrift) are going to make it. Perhaps they will move back their times.
-
I felt like LBJ got cheated out of finals. They're really good. The question is: are they a 19 band or a 6 band. Biggest inconsistency in prelims. Other than that pretty consistent.
-
Does anyone have a full prelims recap?
-

Throw back to Area D judging putting Round Rock as 1st in music, and then the other judge put them as 17th.
-
What bands do you guys think will be just outside of finals. Think 15-25.

Well, this is just my opinions based on scores and early BOA's (Austin, etc)

Full results out yet?
-
Did Anderson have a bad run? I am very surprised that Georgetown, lake Travis, and McNeil beat Anderson.
-
Anyone have new predictions after Austin and Conroe?
-
No surprises in in the results.
-
Finalists in performance order:
Hutto
Mcneil
Lehman
Georgetown
Mccallum
Bryan
Conally
Westlake
Westwood
Hays

Hendrickson is off to a great start. Really excited to see their show, sounds like it could potentially be a finalist. They were the first one out in 15th last year and sound like they could be improved this year.
Flower Mound sounds awesome, scores from Birdville are promising for them.
Does anyone have a video of Hendrickson?

I know it's still "early" in the season, but after McAllen and Austin regionals, it may be a good time to start talking about our predictions for the BOA San Antonio Super Regional coming up in a month from now!
Thoughts?
I feel like even though Bowie got a surprising placement at Austin, I think they will eventually pull up in the coming weeks. I also know bands like Westlake tend to do better later in the season, so I'm gunning for them to be in finals as well. I think Vista Ridge could make finals again this year!
I'm not going to try placements because that's insane but I will say SOME of the bands that I believe are top contenders for this competition (probably going to forget a few because there are SO MANY!)
Marcus
Bowie
Hebron
Leander
Cedar Park
CTJ
Woodlands
Round Rock
LD Bell
Reagan
Vandergrift
Flower Mound
Vista Ridge
Westlake
Hendrickson
Dripping Springs
Westwood
I apologize in advanced if I forgot a band, and anything could happen really! Competition seems to be getting harder and harder every year!
Aledo and Anderson had very strong performances at Austin. Anderson getting 11th at Austin. I'm not sure how i feel about Westlake. They got 12th at Austin this year. However they always bloom really late in the season. Keller ISD will be big contenders too. Churchill is also a strong contender, however I think they usually plateau early in the season. Westwood's show was unique, but they got 13th at Austin. Anything could change though!

I'm no expert in this area of Texas, but I would say the top 3 would be
1) Hebron
2) Coppell
3) Plano East
-
I'm not sure how Rouse will do this season, but man, this is probably the best they have been visually this early in the season (musically, they're doing okay). They are certainly on the rise (even if it might be slowly) and they could potentially become a serious competitor over the next couple years or so.
Rouse is looking really good. A big step up from previous years.
-
Hmmm. Definitely not the strongest early performance from CTJ I've seen or heard. I wish they had done the opener. It looked really cool from backfield! This second movement just seems like a quirky little diversion that doesn't work well on its own. It needs some context.
completely agree.
Also anyone seen Bowie this year? From what I've heard this year isn't a strong one for them either.
Still super impressed by Vista Ridge this year. That band is going places.

The schedule is out

I'd actually put Aledo in the upper bubble of things.
They do extremely well in the early season of things (like last year where they beat Reagan at a regional) but then plateau (got 26th at BOA SA)
-
It's just... so hard to predict. Last year I for sure had Westlake in my top 10 and then they didn't make finals. I'm not sure how much Aledo has improved since last yar, but at BOA San Antonio they got beat out by other bands here.

So who are the bands who decided to pull out? Haven't been following all the developments.
