  1. Oh man, I remember playing that piece at HASWE. I hope i get to hear yall perform it at some point. I'm sure yall will smoke it. Spring High School's Symphonic Band will be playing: Boys of the Old Brigade by Chambers (at least i'm pretty sure thats what it's called) La Procesion du Rucio by Turina/Arr. Reed Symphony for Band (Symphony No. 6) by Persichetti (The timpani part to this piece makes me happy to be a percussionist)
  2. I'm not sure yet. I'm leaning towards the Bears, but I'm not set on them yet. Gonna be a good game. And about that Colts/Pats game...I'm just glad Tom Brady lost. It made me happy.
  3. I sure do wish that school had been cancelled today. I stayed up till 3 or 4 in the morning expecting to not have to wake up. I was wrong.
  4. Spring didn't use tenors this year. And, I gotta say, I actually kinda like it. Everything we play seems alot cleaner for some reason. But I'm not really sure about advantages/disadvantages.
  5. that was awesome. Also, word on the street is that the Bluecoats will be performing Smooth Criminal in their show. I don't think that's been confirmed yet, but man, that would be awesome.
  6. Rotation 1 from Eric Sammut's Four Rotations for Marimba
  7. I wish it would get below 70 degrees...
  8. Mainly Spring's auditorium but every now and then we head on over to perform in the Westfield PAC. I definately prefer the PAC. Our auditorium pales in comparison to Westfield's PAC.
  9. hehe...yeah...for every part we have thats supposed to be soft, we play it at 2 inches and then our director says "alright, basses, add about 20 more p's to that." It's hard to play that soft. Especially triplet roll, geeze, that's tough.
  10. 16'', 18''(<---mine), 20'', 24'', and 28'' I think. In my opinion, our top bass puts out massive sound when you just tap it, so anything like a 14'' might be too high pitched and would probably transmit sound way more than any other in the line, possibly making it sound like a tick. And I agree with you about the 28'' being the dark and low tone, but I can see what your director is saying. The sound that the 28'' made, depending on how what the pitch of the head is and how tight it is, could ring forever in the dome. But don't go listening to me, I'm only a sophmore, I'm sure your director knows what he's doing. So I would trust him.
  11. My top 5 in no particular order: Spring Brazoswood The Woodlands (I love their show, Imogen Heap rocks my socks) The Woodlands College Park not sure about the 5th band. Good luck to all the bands at area.
