Guest mpsanchez Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Move with your hips and not your shoulders. Don't try to be aggressive with dance/movement, etc. You'll only look stiff. Boys tend to perform straight across, look up into the audience. The moment you join a winterguard/color guard you're an instant role model to other boys who want to give it a try but are intimidated for whatever reason. Taking risks is part of the gig. Especially the physical ones (i.e. movement & equipment work) Here's another tid-bit that I've found works with some of my middle school boys, "You'll look silly spinning a flag or rifle while dancing around, so don't worry about trying not to look silly spinning a flag or rifle while dancing around." Good Luck! Quote
