bariphonium Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I got info from a friend who says that the Cadets are taking immediate acceptances for tubas, though this was awhile ago, so they may have who they need now. The Cadets? In need of people? Maybe one of the lesser-known corps, but I wouldn't think that the Cadets would be asking for people, especially this far into the season. Is DCI becoming a spectator sport? Are too many people watching and not enough people participating? Your thoughts? Quote
mbui Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 The Cadets were plagued with injuries not too long ago. Maybe that's why there was a spot open. Quote
Skippy Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 There are several reasons why a corps might be in need of someone. Injuries, family emergencies, etc. Quote
TX Suh-nare Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Yeah, man, you never know. It's not like you have 800 people trying out for every instrument (take PR bck in '04. There were fewer than half-a-dozen tenors trying out, while there were close to about 700 snares). I mean, you won't find 6,000 tubas trying out for one corps, so I'm not too suprised. Heck, one of our seniors and two alum were offered positions in corps like Glassmen, Blue Knights, and I think even Boston Crusaders. Quote
TX Suh-nare Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 This one just occured to me. I don't know about ya'll, but when I see those DVDs and VHSs of corps, I look at them and feel inferior, like I'll never be that good. That may be why. Quote
