I wonder if this forces some changes to the regions/areas as well?

I highly suspect they'll adjust the current regions/areas.

Out of curiosity, what areas/regions in particular would you say are all but guaranteed to have SOME form of adjustment, regardless of HOW they do it? If you cant really answer that or would be redundant to discuss thats alright as Im just curious on how people think TMEA/UIL will adjust zones; because I feel like the current zoning situation were in would constitute a complete redrawing of the state if we want to avoid Area J and D/H situations, more specifically J having ALL state finalists for qualifiers.

I could imagine 2,24,25,31, etc getting changed to better the DFW area. I'm not sure entirely how off the top of my head but I see a redraw happening hopefully. I'll try to cook up a prediction this week

If Region 31 went to J, That Coppell/Wakeland/Prosper matchup would be nasty.

Unfortunately, that doesn't really help the other bands in this area. Area C is definitely weaker next year as there is no guarantee to get 4 state spots anymore. I could see either Region 25 or 31 moving over there if Area J gets axed.

This may be a hot take, but I could also see them keeping Area J. There's some pretty major growth happening in those regions. Some of those rural towns are essentially becoming suburbs to the big suburbs.

I see our Areas being the same, but at the moment I want to think Regions in specific will be changed for this area. I could see moving maybe PISD and LEISD to Region 2 and then to area B, not sure what would be done in order to re-balance it out though. Its something that will take a lot of discussion for sure. Not sure about LISD though, its just such a predicament because they consistently place top 3.

J wont remain especially if Wakeland actually commits to moving up into 6A, Were only getting like 1-2 additional schools in J and it will only assure that we dont have 3 state slots, and it would mean a 6A state finalist band (or a 13-16 one) misses finals if Wakeland moves up, and considering area C has zero finalist bands atp its not logical. And if they move 25 to C that would mean Prosper misses finals (less than 20 bands) just to give area C more slots for bands placing in the low 30s-40s.

does anyone have numbers for Area D?

Moving up to 6A is Lake Belton, Jack C. Hays, East View, and potentially both Pieper and Chaparral.

Moving down to 5A is Shoemaker, Killeen, Austin High, and Manor.

When all is said and done, 6A-D will remain at 5 state bands.

Some reported enrollment numbers were amended today. The big one I noticed was that Austin High will actually remain in 6A. If Pieper and Chaparral moves up, that would put Area D at 30 bands.

where do we find info about these anyway?

Is there any way we can look at this without the paid subscription? I’m interested to see if wakeland updated their student count, and if the McKinney schools submitted yet.

There should be a couple football forums that are well discussed regarding realignment like there is every 2 years. Shoutout to them because figuring this out would be a little more difficult without the work they put in in the realignment discussion :) . Regarding wakeland, right now they are 2245, so more than likely on the line of 5A/6A, If they make 6A they will probably be in J if it remains as it is, and for athletic districts, I see a district with them and probably the nearby 380 growth spurt schools (PISD, LEISD, maybe DISD, etc.). Right now I don't think there's any word on the McKinneys yet to my knowledge. However, here is what they counted at for the TEA reports for 24-25. North: 2343 Boyd: 2546 High: 2664. If it stays similar to this, they are all locked for 6A. However since to the boundary changes discussed in MISD, this can change so be ready for anything (probably as discussed on here the status quo of Boyd and High in 6A, with North in 5A)

Community has grown like crazy and so has Celina and PC who are pretty much all 5A locks.

Possibility of moving up to 5A:

  • Celina (for sure)
  • Panther Creek (for sure)
  • West Plains (on the bubble, will be close)
  • Sulphur Springs (on the low end of the bubble, I think they're probably staying in 4A though)
  • Davenport (no numbers yet, but were very close in 2024)
  • Valley View (also no numbers yet, but were very close in 2024)

Possibility of moving down to 4A:

  • Alice (for sure)
  • Kaufman (for sure)
  • Plainview (very likely)
  • El Paso Hanks (no numbers yet, but very heavily trending towards 4A)

Not sure if this works on other browsers, but Safari's reader view will allow you to view the numbers.

Hey! We just got rid of the gauntlet, we don’t want them back. Keep them up there!! lol. No but for real if I understand you correctly. Are you saying Area J comes back to Area C? Would that not just clog up the same state finalist spots for the foreseeable future? I mean sure you go from 4 spots to what? 5 or 6? That’s LISD the first 3, and you got 30 something bands going for 2-3 spots? Youre still going to leave some potential state finalist out anyway so it doesn’t really solve anything. And then you got “mid rangers” like Waxahachie, Forney, that are essentially out after being on top. What sucks is that it sucks either way lol literally no one wins either way it goes.
