Basing predictions for this contest on previous results seems rather futile because you can point to any combination of previous results to justify which 5 groups go to state.

EX:

-Cy fair won BOA north houston over bridgeland so they should be above them

-Cy woods beat Cinco and JET at boa north houston so they should be above them

-7L beat Cy woods who beat cy fair at boa south houston and jordan beat 7L at KMF so Jordan should be above all of them

-JET was behind Jordan, 7L, Cinco at KMF so they'll be behind them

just about any of these results you can pull up a contradicting result from somewhere else to discredit

the judging at boa is vastly different from uil

Also true. The point still holds if you're comparing just the music and vis captions and weighting them more similarly to UIL sheets.
Lots of overlap in the judging panels at these contests and its likely that at least a couple of judges will be getting their 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) read on at least a group or 2 on monday

So, what I'm hearing is that Jordan is #1 (this is a joke)

If Jordan beat 7L who cy woods who beat cy fair who beat bridgeland then obviously Jordan's the best group.

In all seriousness, a lot can change in a week in terms of cleanliness and music performance. For example, if one band was having really bad stickouts by one person and they told that person to shut up. It would cause an instant increase in their music score. Objectively I think predictions are stupid even though I do them. I think they are fun to do. But as been said a million times before what our predictions are has no actual meaning to the contest. Any member should take anything as not true and just bull crap. Spectator should not take it as results. Nothing set in stone. As we know area I is prone to random fits of craziness. For all we know bridgeland could end up dead last and 2014 Bule Devils could end up being our grand champion.

The thing is is none of us are judges, we're just people who enjoy the sport. We don't see the same things that judges see, we don't see the same things that members see, and we all have personal biases and so do the judges. As entertaining as it is to try and predict who will be who our winner it doesn't really matter. What matters is bands going out there and putting the best performance they can on the field. It doesn't matter who wins or not. What matters is you being proud of either the band you're supporting, or the performance you put on.

I like the way you think. It seems area I is always a controversial contest because you just never know what the results will be until you see them. As an ex-band parent of a Woods student, I know they traditionally start slower and get stronger, which is likely true of other programs as well. For what it's worth, I'm really excited for Jordan this year. They are very strong and I'm pulling for them to get to state. They are a state-worthy band for sure.

And your attitude about this whole process is refreshing and mature. Best of luck to you and your group and to all the others who I hope their best performance run yet!

Worst part is that I am student 😂😂😂

But thank you. And best of luck to everyone to. (It's in 4 days but like)

The only thing we can count on for sure is with 5 spots, 1-2 really good bands at a minimum will miss out on State this year.

Unfortunately yeah. In a prefect world every "good band" will go to state. But, there is always  going to have to be  a winner and a loser...

I'm pulling hard for Cinco to make it. I feel terrible about them missing out last year, given the circumstances. If I recall, it was some other band's fault (ineligible marcher? can't remember) and that cut the number of bands that could advance, which meant Cinco lost its state spot. Not saying they *deserve* to make it for that reason, but I sure as heck would like them to.

Honestly, yeah I would love to see them make it. However I do think the lemons show was much better designed in my opinion.

Yeah, I think the lemons show could’ve placed higher if it was cleaner? Lots of difficulty and very well performed. I just think that it was design “heavy” and not as well balanced when it comes to execution. But again, Peter Warsaw and Fred Vollmar, had them going to state. They know what they’re doing so any cinco student on here just needs to know we are speaking our unqualified thoughts of no value. (Sounds kinda dumb lol)

That delay was a pretty good idea huh?

Yes. Been hunkered in the bathroom during the tornado warning. I hope everyone is okay.
