No disrespect to Cyfair/CyWoods. I thought Woods got robbed at state with placement. 
 

Just with the inconsistent BoA results on even some of the heavier UIL graded stuff, the only two absolute locks for me at this moment are Bridgeland and 7L.
 

Their shows work well for UIL and BoA and I don’t think there could be poor enough judging to keep either of those school from advancing. I’ve been wrong many times in life before though! 😂

Cause some bands don't even have all of their show on the field right now, and that can fundamentally change scores*

I only saw them perform at halftime a few weeks ago, so I won’t comment on how clean that was, etc as the show was far from a finished product. 
 

I root for them because of the state debacle last year. But, I think people aren’t sure yet because the lemon show was so visually fun and cool. So I personally had different expectations.

Just a random thought, this is not just for this area but there are a lot of soprano sax/some sort of altered clarinet sax solo throughout this entire houston area competitions.

in general I think it's popular all over they have such a unique sound.

Area question: Will the performances be just on draw order or is it going to be like BOA with bottom 6, top 6??? I can’t remember since we didn’t have finals last year.

After another week of scores here are my predictions 

1 Bridgeland- another great week for them winning lone star preview can’t wait to see them in person

2 seven lakes- won the Katy cup show is going to be great for uil love the direction there headed

3 cy woods- don’t think they went to a contest this week but still have a great show love seeing them get better every year

4 cy fair- still a bit iffy on them but still have them making state love the show theme

5 cinco ranch- absolutely love there show now that I’ve fully seen it love the hits and the clarinet soloist wanna see them make state this year 

6 jordan- another great show just don’t think it’s uil oriented as much as other bands have them first out of state

7 jet- a Great placement at Katy still think the bar to make state is still alittle bit to high for them to make it

8 tompkins- loved there show unique and powerful in the same boat as jet but have them comfortably making finals 

9 cy ranch- still hasn’t seen there show but there placement at Katy is good enough for me to have them right here

10 Katy- another school who’s show I haven’t see but placed alright at Katy so i think they will have a good shot at finals

11 Langham creek-they had another underwhelming week didn’t beat a single area finals band I don’t know what is happening to them but they have two weeks to fix it to try and fight for an area finals spot

Area is always a completely different contest and I don’t think we can take much from what we’ve already seen results wise as indication of how that’ll go. 
top 6 (alpha order): Bridgeland, cinco, Cy fair, cy woods, Jordan, seven lakes, Tompkins (or JET)

The Katy cup is awarded in prelims. Jordan won the finals.

I think GE isn't as important in UIL than the likes of KMF and BOA, but if Katy performs their show like they did in prelims, I think they surely will have a spot in Area Finals cause after seeing a video of their finals run, their visual is one of the coolest I've honestly ever seen

After getting to watch some shows I think I'm ready to rank again

1-3 Bridgeland I think their show is pretty basic this year it seems like as a whole its all just calm which I'm not against however I feel like this year might be the year they could get knocked out of the area champ spot however I'm not one to bet against them they know what they're doing as show from the past couple of years.

1-4 7L I think they are really cooking it up this year I like the concept of a dune themed show and I really like the uniform I just think the sound isn't as powerful as schools like jordan, cy-woods, or cinco (maybe biased) I'm really excited though come november when they get way cleaner than even now I think they'll be even more succesful than last year just a really cool program all around 

2-4 Cy-Woods I think duo concertante is a good show just as a whole they seem as more of a UIL focused school rather than BOA and I think they could take away the number 1 spot of either 7L or Bridgeland. I don't like their show as much as last year though but thats just cause I prefer more weird type of shows.

2-4 Cy-Fair I really like their show this year with the uniforms being similar to SCV 2018 as well as the flickering throughout the show being really cool. I know cross comparing isn't cool but I think it's weird how they won north houston then got 8th at south houston makes me wonder about their placement at this point in the season.

3-5 Cinco Ranch I know this is biased but I think with these upcoming 2 weeks of cleaning the drill will look way cooler and seeing the show this last saturday was amazing I could see emotion on these kids faces and it got me excited they're upset from last year and want that state spot badly I really hope theres 6 spots possibly this year so both Cinco and Jordan get a chance to go

3-6 Jordan They won finals at Katy marching fest however I'm not that sold I think it's really cool and the General effect as a whole is crazy I love the color guard's use of heads as well as the fun little dance part near the end the only thing is it feels a bit as if it's three separate pieces rather than something with clean transitions

5-8 JET I like the show especially with the concept of things being repaired with gold in japan however it seems like it doesn't have much kick I think they have a show but they really need to push and focus these next to weeks to create a bigger and cleaner sound.

5-8 Tompkins Yesterday's tomorrow is a really cool show theme and it's extremely musical. I think their soloists are really interesting however I just don't think they're gonna be coming back as strong as they were during the raven and the firebird.
