a lot of the bands that played first in the morning got first banded, O'connor's scores (out of 100 in each category) 50 50 50 50 50.
I never thought of that scoring technique. That's such a good idea. I was wondering what judges would do if they accidentally scored a band too high or too low in the beginning. That means O'Connor' performance would have served as a standard. Do you by chance know what place O'Connor got?

A session is Prelims or Finals of either 3A or 5A.
There are 4 total sessions across the two days.
Thanks for the info. That means I can watch as many of the bands as my schedule permits. I don't know if I can go through all thirty-somewhat bands, though. After Saturday, sitting in the hot sun at McAllen watching about 35 performances (twelve hours straight, literally), I don't know if I can have that kind of patience again. Not to mention getting about 4-5 hours of sleep the night before because of a looong road trip from San Antonio.

Does anybody know how the tickets work? I know there are single session passes and all day passes for prelims and finals. How do the single session tickets work? Is it just for one block of bands and then they make you leave?

no, but what do i know, i saw marshall in the middle of the season and i was not impressed with their show, spacing issues, phasing, if they want to make finals their really gonna have to step it up for area but it will be very tough for them.
but best of luck to them and any other bands competing
Out of NISD I think the schools to watch out for are O'Connor, Clark, Taft, and Brandeis. (I think Brandeis is pretty new, but they are good.) Don't know about Marshall. I saw them a while back but I can't remember much. Who knows though. It all depends on which bands can peak right around this time.

I would venture to say the following will move on.
O'Connor
Harlingen
Donna
Hanna
I don't know much about the bands either.

I thought they would have placed a little higher. Still, I think that scoring technique is the most fair. I think it would have worked out better if the band that performed first was one that placed somewhere in the
15th-25th range so that they have more room to score the "better" and "worse" bands. Then again, there is no way to tell who would be in that range until the scores actually come out...(The chicken or the egg?)
