  1. Yup. Clear Brook had the 33rd overall best score. They took the top 30 scores so Clear Brook essentially missed Semis by 3.

    Other impressions:

    - Looks like Bowie was band #12 going into finals. They had a pretty solid lead over PCEP, who I'm surprised didn't make the cut based on all the hype I heard about their show.

    - Bourbon County got 10th on their prelims day so they made the cut for semis legitimately (Top 11) without help from the rulebook. 3 more Class A bands were added to Semis since Bourbon was the only 'A' band to make it based on overall score. There were 5 AA bands in Semis so we know they met their 4 band quota without help. I'm still trying to figure out why there are 34 bands in semis if only 3 bands were added from Class A and the remaining classes all met their "class quotas". Any help?

3 of the 5 qualifying AA bands were from Friday and North Hardin was the only AA band that made semi-finals from Thursday. and since the rules dictate that 2 bands from each class of each day be represented, Reeths-Puffer became band number 31 (which is where they placed overall) by scoring second highest in class AA on Thursday. I hope that helps.

  2. I was absolutely astonished by LD Bell's show this year. I wanted to see if anybody was willing to explain what their show was about. I remember reading somewhere here that it was about the group's quest to their win as Grand National Champions last year, but I couldn't find that post when I was searching the board. I'd like to get a greater understanding of the theme so I can connect deeper with what I consider to be one of the greatest High School marching band shows ever performed. Thank you in advance to all who respond.

  3. Greetings to all from the left coast. A question came up today in another marching arts forum today in regards to L.D. Bell's show and the kinds of response the band received this season from your average high school football crowd. It is obviously clear that Bell's artistic production this year is vastly different compared to what an everyday person would expect from a marching band half time show. Was TRANSCENDents as big of a hit at Bell's football games as it was at Grand Nationals? Furthermore, how have other seemingly 'abstract' shows been received in the past? I will collect the responses gathered here and attempt to formulate an answer to the questions posed on the other forum, any answers provided to these questions are much appreciated.

    with regards,
