Wish there was more discussion in this group. Makes it like an after thought. So many great performances. From prelims to finals, ranking didn't change very much. Congratulations to Mineola.....I remember that band making 2s prior to Chris Brannan taking over....and now the excellency keeps going with the current director. Brannan was the director for who brought Queen City into prominence with three state titles. Why that district let him go is beyond me. He's now at Barberrs Hill and just a placement out of 5A finals. it looks like there will not be any movement up to 4a out of the top contenders. So, we can expect the usuals unless there is a director replacement. So hard on a band who has a history with a long term BD. I don't want to give a play by play of my observations....but the surprise band this year is Raymondsville. We all knew that the school, community and boosters were all in on their band....but they kicked it up a notch this year. I really enjoyed your show. I hope you everyone can chime in and say something positive about this years 3A championships. These communities really find them in the crosshairs of bigger ISDs with little fanfare. Congratulations to all finalists.

UIL 3A Area C 2025

My prediction for tomorrow. 1. Mineola 2. Redwater 3. Winnsboro 4. Atlanta 5. Commerce However, I believe the "top half" draw order could significantly alter this. A previous poster said Mineola hasn't been beat in area in quite awhile. Redwater took prelims two years ago I believe and Atlanta took prelims last year. Mineola has prevailed on finals. The gap has narrowed, but there is still a gap. Safe travels to everyone. -

This region will be well represented at State. -
There was a rogue judge in this event. No stakes in this, but it's clear. Mr Bullock as chair of the region is responsible. Anyone who has additional information should share with the UIL. If they receive and dismiss the concern call your representative as they must answer to the state. Schools spend thousands of dollars on this event. No one seems to know of any sanctioning of judges who had pre-bias toward a school. UIL knows and they will not admit it....because that would upset the stakeholders district. There is a lack of transparency. Sure , it's "just a silly marching band contest" but those young people deserve better than internal shenanigans by regional and state directors.

TVery surprised at some of the outcome. I don't have anyone in particular....that I am associated with. Which of these schools are positioned to move up/down in this nex cycle. Would think Celina as they almost are at current 5A level? How close is Pleasabt Grove? For for they have mutiple schools on that area that can flex to what might make the more competitive. Canto has come a long way. So many championships. Just remember when back in the day Argyle would win it all several years just to be on a trajectory upward as a larger school. Some schools like Vandegrift never did that as they recognized the advantage.

Looks Ike a competive slate of participants. No predictions here. All one has to do is look at last years line-up. Let's hope for good weather. And congratulations to everyone who made it this far. It's an achievement in itself. Can't wait to see the epic performances. Thank you @TexasStrangers for keeping this group informed. -

Whose is the region 3 secretary. Whoever it is, is not on top of posting like other regions....and it's been consistently bad. Perhaps a change is needed. -

Hoping for good weather at Area. Bad weather can upend several of the bands. It really caught me off guard how some of the mainstays got Div 2 this year. New Boston has been a perennial finalist at Military state. Just wondering if the competitiveness of that region is a hindrance compared to other regions. Stellar judges though. -

Region 4 is on track to send 15-16 bands. Need region three to bring 5 or 6 to get us to 30 bands to take 6. If not, there's going to be a very good band left out of the mix for State. i watched the whole morning block. I dunno about the 1-2-1 for Atlanta. Mineola and Atlanta were the class of the first block by far. -

I really wish we could hear from the southern end of this region, there have go to be patents out there who can contribute. We want all bands to be successful. Tell about your band, the show, the struggles.....we will be there to support you too. This is a very competitive region.....and you contribute to that. Share the success and success excitement of your band....we all root for everyone. Hope all is well. Safe travels. -

Winnsboro Contest 2025

After The battle of the Spear contest this weekend Redwater is the superior band of the class of 3A field. They really have it all and should be favored to win the gold at region. Mineola may have an edge through the consistency, but the other potential medalist have exposed their weakness. Some bands exposed the weakness in upper brass. Thought that they might over perform but they present a weak in upper register voices that they can not overcome Most others are Balanced. And they will be in contention for a medal. This will be a great season and a direct reflection on the trajectory of band. I'm sure the superintendents are keeping close eye. The quality of direction in their program. The question is. Are they still motivated or just wanting to ride out to retirement? What's best for these young people?Motivator or complacent.....we will see based on their expertise in these next threee weeks. -

The electronics have changed this world. I support electronics. This will still be a great festival. I'd not call it a contest now. Just a time for some critiques. Good luck to everyone. And be safe. -

I guess I'm an over optimist, but I hope that 35 bands qualify to this area. The quality is there. So many bands get left out because of the brutality of the region. Students deserve to receive the reward of being a state qualifying band even in this very tough area. Let's hope for good weather. These bands that depend on electronics would certainly be at a disadvantage if it's drizzling/steady rain with no halting storms. I suppose I'm polyamorous when it comes to this. Best wishes she's to everyone at Region! -

Mt Pleasant Going Gold Invitational
Kmt1 replied to Trumpeter75's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Many of the bands that go to this contest, do so in order to get some field time in Mt Pleasant as they always host the region. There has been some bouncing around for those that have competed already this season. This will be the first contest for many. I know this will be the first for Atlanta, as well as most all of the military bands. One day we will see a military band beat the field at this contest. There are at least four former state champions in this invitational. Best wishes to all bands, safe travels. -

Does anyone know of any of the major 3A bands that will be moving up to 4A? Curious if Raymondville or Holliday would possibly be on the move.
