  1. I could definitely see that too, but Area C seems a little more interesting to me right now with Garland opting up. That would take Area C to only 13 schools (assuming all who made it this year do again). Adding just the 4 from region 2 would definitely help balance the three aeras out. Maybe moving region 31 to area C and region 2 to area F accomplishes this more, but nobody really knows how that would play out. It will definitely be interesting to see.
  2. They were in C until the 2018 (I think) alignment so it wouldn’t be too unprecedented
  3. I would expect to see some shakeup in 5A areas in the DFW metro. Specifically watching to see if region 2 stays in area B or switches to C. I’ve spoken to quite a few directors in that region, and it’s apparently something being discussed and that was heavily explored in the last alignment. That would open the door for another FISD school or Melissa to go to state and Argyle and TC would easily advance in area C.
  4. there’s also some huge financial mismanagement that happened when the old percussion director left and the new one came on. had like a two year old drumline and decided to buy a new one when other areas are falling apart. anna’s in a rough spot because they’re throwing money in the wrong places
  5. Again, it’s not odd, it’s normal. It happens at every contest and it sucks to be on the receiving end of it but it happens to bands at every contest every week
  6. I’ve been on the receiving end of judges tapes like that. Again- it sucks because they don’t tell you how to improve, but it’s just how some judges give feedback.
  7. What that means is they appealed during the verification period because they thought it was a mistake, and their appeal was heard, but determined to not be a mistake and scores were announced as they were. That doesn’t make it suck any less that their score had a disparity, but they weren’t shut down in the way that some are describing. I’m sure TC appealed their disqualification, but that doesn’t mean because they appealed they should have automatically been let in.
  8. Nobody in this forum has any reason to root against Emerson. Everyone looking at it from an objective standpoint and who has seen recaps like that before agrees that it sucks, but it happens. I think you’re receiving information from people who are hurt or misunderstand the situation, but it’s not out of the ordinary for this to happen.
  9. They don’t announce finalists without directors having verified scores. The order of events doesn’t line up with UIL procedures.
  10. I’ve personally been at UIL contests where they’ve announced errors and allowed an extra band to play in finals. The claim is outlandish, frankly.
  11. That person isn’t an emerson band director (according to their own website). If it was an obvious error, it would have been fixed. We all get scores we don’t like but that doesn’t mean the system was rigged against us.
  12. A facebook post isn’t a factual statement?
  13. If judges changed scores every time a band complained about a disparity, it would happen at every contest, and prelims may as well just be a debate event where directors lobby for the best scores. If they didn't change scores, there’s a reason for it.
  14. There’s a difference between fixing something and changing scores. If they’re not changing scores, that means that it wasn’t an error, and not that they’re just carrying on. And again, if it was an obvious error and FISD wouldn’t let it go, with the amount of FISD influence in the verification room, it simply wouldn’t have gotten by.
  15. What I’m saying is that the nonchalant way that you have described it being handled doesn’t seem likely. FISD has more than half of the bands there, and if it was a “we’re not gonna fix it out of convenience” thing, I doubt they would have let that go.
