I am also very curious about how Colleyville will do in this competition. They have had a rough year so far, and they are definitely desperate to do well here. Unfortunately, I just don't see how they pull through to the state spots (I'm not even sure if they make finals here) based on the results from their earlier competitions... and what I've learned from the years of band results is that earlier consistent competition results define the direction you are headed when area roles around. It would be very, very impressive if they managed to improve drastically at the last second. Hope to see them at finals. -

Midlothian's show might be boring for some, but the fact is, they score high, and it won't be changing at this competition. Aledo is still the favorite to win, of course, but I just don't see them being as dominant as they were last year in the scoring system this year, and personally, I think Burleson Centennial has improved from last year. Wouldn't be totally shocked if there's a new crown for Area champion... We'll see. -

For me, now I just don't see how Midlothian misses out on a state spot, they managed to beat Aledo in the music caption at Waco. I feel like BC can really challenge Aledo for the first place spot, and Aledo definitely won't be sweeping 1s by every judge this year. My locks for state are Aledo, Midlothian, and BC as of right now. -

They did have massive improvements from their Mckinney competition in music, but i’m just not convinced with their brass and percussion this year as there isn't really any impact moments like they had last year and visually is still a mess too. They have a lot of improvement to do to be able to make area finals here because Granbury, Joshua, Brewer, Saginaw and Chisolm Trail are red hot this season compared to other seasons. -

1. Aledo 2. BC 3. Midlothian (impressive boa midland win) 4. Richland 5. Grapevine 6. Birdville (not yet convinced they are better than Grapevine atm from what I saw at birdville comp) 7. Azle 8. Chisolm Trail 9. Saginaw 10. Brewer/Colleyville/Fossil Ridge (really up for grabs here, I see alot of bands fighting for the last finals spot.) -

we just learned from the Birdville competition that Chisolm trail is better than Colleyville. I saw the Birdville performance and I certainly think they are better than Colleyville as well. If Colleyville makes finals here, they would be 9th or 10th because I feel like even Saginaw might be better. They truly need a miracle. -

By far the hardest music Brewer has produced, their brass sounds very very strong this season, lets see if they can also beat Chisolm trail and fossil ridge... -

Definitely, brewer making alot of improvements. Speaking of improvements im suprised nobody is talking about Saginaw. They just beat fossil ridge and chisolm trail (last years finalists) with breeze it seems. Saginaw has always been one of those bands that had potential and i think this year they are finally showing it! Would be crazy if they snuck into a state spot like how brewer did in 2022 haha -
Something tells me Argyle will get 2nd, they get better every year. Grapevine will definitely make finals here too and i have them over Lebanon. Colleyville also is unpredictable in these competitions, either they will be lower in finals or be higher, considering the momentum from last year they can break top 5.

The only scoring thing that seemed really off was Music Birdville getting first in prelims by the music 3 judge and in finals richland getting dead last by the music 3 judge, other than that I dont have anything to complain about for judging, scorings are different from different judges and getting 3rd in caption and also getting 7th in the same caption is quite normal. -

Wow. Huge congrats to Midlothian, never thought they would get 2nd this year at area and colleyville proved they are back after not qualifying for state last year. Grapevine’s program has come a long way to get here i would love to see them make state they have been close. Huge congrats to all the bands and the results just show you how competitive this area is once again -

Does anyone know how many bands have qualified for area here? And how many bands are left for region tomorrow? -

I wouldn’t seperate Burleson Centennial from the rest as being locks, the only band locked for state right now is Aledo. Burleson Centinnial i could see lose to Colleyville and richland at area and vice versa. They definitely need their best run at area finals for a shot. -

Although Burleson Centinnial lost to Colleyville twice the judging is different at area, there isnt a guard caption which was a key factor for Colleyville to beat Burleson centinnial, Burleson centinnial took music visual captions against Colleyville but it was close. But yeah dont get me wrong Colleyville’s music and visuals is still extremely strong. Burleson centennial vs Colleyville in this area is seriously just a toss up imo -

Hopefully it will be 5 and it probably most likely will be, this area deserves more bands to go to state -

I agree, I have Grapevine and Azle both beating Chisholm trail right now. Still not certain though if azle is above grapevine even though they did beat grapevine at boa prosper. But Grapevine getting 10th is definitely gonna be a suprise they’re definitely contending for top 8 at the very least. I also think midlothian is just better than Birdville and Grapevine and azle this year, midlothian will definitely make finals at area this year and contest for top 6.
