The band thats been to 18 of the 20 3A State Competitions (The other 2 were disqualifications due to time), been to the finals 12 times, 4 time State Champions

Robinson
Glen Rose
Taylor
Kennedale
That was the finals order as well.

Dang... that's a small number of bands in Area D. We've got 25 in Area B, so that's 5 for us! Anyway, my prediction still stands, but maybe take out Glen Rose. Either way, I think Glen rose will give a good fight against Llano and China Spring. Your band was 2nd in State last time around, so I'm thinking you won't have any problem going again. By the way, what's your show this year?
We're playing the opera Carmen.
Area D went like this:
1. Robinson
2. Glen Rose or
3. Taylor
4. Kennedale.
we were only supposed to take 3 bands but kennedale scored so well that they got to go. I'm not sure if Taylor or Glen Rose came in 2nd though. Gatesville, China Spring, Llano staying home!

I'm the worst section leader ever, we barely get out of band early enough to get to 2nd period on time (which is a college class for me). So, I leave my reed on the mouthpiece till they turn black, I go through about a box of 3.5's a semester.

We have no Bassons or oboes, probably the largest band in TX without a Basson,Oboe, or Bari-Sax.

I saw Robinson at the Finals of the Plano East competition. Like 180+ member band that is 3A; insane. Robinson is basically like the Allen of 3A, big and loud.
It is also interesting to see bands that still do mostly turn-and-go marching.
I'm so sorry you saw us at Plano, we did much better at regionals. We're usually the largest 3A band, but i'm unsure this year. We are actually less traditional this year than we have been in the past and we're still VERY traditional.

Llano, Robinson, China Spring, and Glen Rose are my picks for advancement. We played Glen Rose, they've got a nice sound and march a very clean show. If I remember correctly, they're playing "X!" by Key Poulan.
Only 3 advance out of this area this year.

Our trompones are anything but slackers. The section leader is a 3 time All-State Trombone (will be 4 years after this year) and they play all the solos in the stands on friday nights. 6 of them even play exit music after our show this year. They are the only section to actually win section of the week this year as well. The best section in our band by far.

Watch out for A&M Consolidated. Thier band director came and gave us a clinic on monday night and he is very intimidating and he knows how to get things done. Made us 50% better in 2.5 hours, IMO.

What bands do you know? Have you seen any perform this year? out of this Area Llano, Robinson, & Gatesville made state in 04. Llano & Gatesville didn't make to fianls and we came in 2nd.

Llano-Made state in 04', but I haven't seen them since.
Robinson-my band, came in 2nd at State in 04'. We did very poorly at Plano East Marching Festival, but got sweepstakes last week.
Giddings- unknown
La Grange-Unknown
Comanche-Unknown
Sealy- got a 1-2-3 last week leaving them with a 2nd Division, but no band got a first division in this regional and 2 bands must advane to area. How do you get a 1 from one judge and a 3 from another?
Taylor-Supposedly doing very well, just moved down from 4A
Gatesville- Came in last at state 2 years ago, usually very good. I haven't seen them this year till the the week before state when we play them in football
Columbus-Unknown
Kennedale- Didn't seem to good when we played them in football earlier, but we were very poor back then as well.
Liberty Hill- Unknown
Bellville- got a Division 2 last week in Sealy's Region and was the other band to advance
Smithville-Unknown
China Spring- Military band that wasbarely left out of state two years ago, very good band. We play them on friday, so i'll get a good look at them.
Glen Rose-Unknown
Rockdale- Not a very good band, but might have improved
Wimberly-Unknown

We have just over 200 marching and we have 5 Altos, 5 tenors, & 0 bari. With our band we have 1 bass clarinet who does everyting with the saxes.

All 5 Alto's and all 5 of our Tenors can do it in our show. Maybe we are just more music intensive.
