I used to play trumpet, but by half way through freshman year marching season, I got sick of it.

 

I WAS going to quit band, but then the opportunity to play tuba arose, so i took it.

 

The tuba saved my band career.

[Etiquette at competition]

My band attended the Westlake Marching Festival yesterday and while we were being announced to compete in Finals, a band decided to laugh at our show theme.  Then, when our solo rifle dropped at the end of the third movement, they laughed again.  I'm wondering what rules are like in different programs so I can get an idea of this happening again or not.

Laughing at another band could get you kicked out.

 

But I don't know for sure because no one's ever laughed, that's just an assumption.

So I know it's all still goin' down and whatnot, but I'm too lazy to stay on late to find out how it goes down.

Well our BD has a love obsession with the tuba line, which I'm on, so band is pretty amazing because we can get away with a lot of stuff that the rest of the band can't.

Anyone else here finishing their show??? We are still trying to put down our closer, Region is this monday and next saturday we have conroe, this is the latest we have ever been on putting down our show. Anyone else trying to learn their show???

We finished our show about 3 weeks ago.

Hi im class 06 from bowie. anyone watch their show? can someone tell me how they did?. i have yet to see them! but i will soon enugh in BOA san antonio and homecoming. thx

I saw them at BOA Arlington and whatnot, but i can't really remember the details of thier show, but it was really good, I remember standing, but by the time I saw it, I had already been up for 19 hours.

what? what ever happened? what does that mean? as in, what happened, why do they suck? or what happened to them as in why does no one ever hear about them?

Personally, I don't think yall suck. In fact, i really enjoy your show, and I'm not even a Madonna fan.

I think this is the most possitive feedback our show has gotten this year that wasn't from band directors or our band parents. But then again, the only other feedback we've gotten was from Mansfield Timberview and Mansfield Summit band members whose only purpose, it seems, is to make us feel like our show sucks.

 

I know our show must be good because the judges think so, but it just doesn't help when your best friends that you sat next to in band up until you went to different highschools are telling you your show sucks.

 

But anyway, thanks for the feedback.

 

And is Mansfield going to be the only Texas band at the St. Louis competition?

What the heck is Mansfield doing going all the way out to St. Louis? 

We got new director this year with big ambitions for our show.

 

He's writing our show along with many other bands that i can't think of right now. But he's on staff with Bluecoats.

 

Also there are not many Texas bands at the contest in St. Louis, so we'll have a better chance.

 

And for the past 3 years our trip has been to San Antonio, which everyone was getting sick of.

 

Those are the reasons i can think of right now, but we made finals in Arlington, which is probably one of the hardest contests.

Well although this is only my band's (Mansfield) second year at BOA and only our first year with a new director, and we were only the third band to perform all day, we managed to make finals. The majority of our band didn't expect finals because it was a really bad run, we didn't even feel we deserved finals. So when we got into finals, it's safe to say that our band simultaniously disembowled themselves. Some of our members were even mad that we got finals because they couldn't go home and go to bed. People that were in the stands during our performance in prelims said it was decent though.

 

If you felt that we didn't deserve to make finals, then you are probably among good company.
