  1. True, but LakeRidge is coming from a very strong band department across the district. Mansfield, Timberview, Legacy, and Summit all have strong band programs. So, while a new school, the students were all raised in the same program as the rest of the district. Matt Garrett moved from Mansfield as Asst. Director to Director at LakeRidge, and his drill writing skills and guard skills are well established. Still, you are correct, it is amazing for a second year school to make it to states. Kudos to them.
  2. I noticed that too... that's quite a discrepancy between judges 1 & 2 and judge 3 and between judge 4 and 5. Things that make you go hmmm....
  3. I've marched shows in NY, and have seen bands from all over the northeast. Watched numerous shows in Texas since moving here, and I can honestly say LakeRidge's show is out of the box. No, it's not a traditional march, stand, play, march, stand, play show, but it's a crowd pleaser. The end is amazing, to get the band to sprial in and out and back into straight lines while running and at the tempo they do it at is pretty much awe inspiring. Their music is crisp, has good sounds. I have other favorite shows as well (Wakeland, Waxahachie to name two), but that one is in a league all of it's own.
  4. Thanks! That makes sense!
  5. Don't count LakeRidge out. Second year school, Division 1 both years and an amazing (check out the last 2-3 minutes!, those kids haul!) show and a band director who will move mountains for those kids! Looking for them to do great things at States!
  6. Why does area C get 5 to states, area D only gets 4? Honest question, new to TX and want to understand their system.
