Popular Post LeanderMomma
TWHS Marching Band has finally officially announced their newly hired head director who is replacing longtime head director Joni Perez. They have hired Carter Frederick from Jersey Village High School (located in the Cy Fair Independent School District, along with many other fantastic Houston area bands!). Congratulations Mr. Frederick! We wish you all the very best for continued success with one of the top band (and guard!) programs in the entire state of Texas! packwick
hurray! they'll have a director! they won't turn into a Rice University-style scatter band! hahaha. it looks like the assistant position has also been removed from the Conroe ISD site. i wonder... good luck to Mr. Frederick! he seems like a nice guy. younger than me, which truuuly makes me feel old. does he have DCI experience? obviously not a requirement, just curious. he could be a woodwind player. I don’t know whether or not he ever did any DCI but I do know he graduated from the University of Houston as a Music Education major with a focus in Trumpet Performance. Mrs. Perez also said that Mr. Frederick is currently working on hiring an assistant, so hopefully that will happen soon as well! 🥰 packwick and Rubisco

Popular Post Rubisco
Frederick seems like a solid pick. He's had some good success in UIL marching. Concert and sight-reading results are solid, too. I don't think Jersey Village does much BOA. I'd have to check. But the wall between the stereotypical "UIL-style band" and "BOA-style band" is fast dissolving anyway. And it's not like that Bluecoats/Blue Devils design team is going to write a show that isn't fairly contemporary, assuming they stick around. There are so many staff changes underway in Texas. Somebody needs to compile a concise list. This season is shaping up to be a very fascinating one! josephbandfan, WoodlandsMom4ever and LeanderMomma
Popular Post WoodlandsMom4ever
As a parent we are looking forward to meeting the new directors. Mrs Perez has shared with us that she has been meeting with Mr Frederick and has been involved in helping with the transition, and as needed going forward. I think there is definitely a feeling of relief from the students. They were starting to worry about getting someone hired- in time for them to be ready for summer Band. The structure and support from the boosters is there and we think he will do a great job starting us on our next chapter of TWHS Band. Hopefully an assistant will be announced soon and that chapter will be ready to be written. Rubisco, J-Mike16 and LeanderMomma
