Seemed like a foregone conclusion, but Hebron winning now makes them the first band to win Honor Band and the State Marching Band Championship in the same cycle. Not even Marcus in their 10 year stretch of dominance managed to pull that off.

I believe Marcus won State Marching Contest in 2014 and named TMEA Honor Band for 2015. And Westfield the same in 88-89.

woo! congrats Hebron on a great year! BOA SA champions, UIL State Marching champions, and TMEA Honor Band! and a bajillion All-Staters! doesn't get much better than that!

Houston bands had waaay better success here than at the state marching contest. 😂😭 good for them! but it's also a weird split. more of em need to learn how to project to the back of the press box, i think. as Brett always used to say, and probably still says in his tapes, you need to imagine that sound starting at the back of the box. it's about communicating that energy and emotion, not just technical accuracy, although you need that too.

A bit late to the party but YESSSSS!!! I couldn’t really see where they would be the bridesmaid at all this year seeing how terrific they continually performed their marching show in the fall, I had no doubt it would translate into the concert season, and it did!! CONGRATS TO HEBRON!!!

The 5’s mean that the piece is a ‘Grade 5’ as noted in the Texas PML (Prescribed Music List). ‘X’s’ mean that the piece is not in the PML. Marches are not graded. If there are two ‘X’s’, that means that a piece (non-march) is new and has not been yet been graded and listed in the PML. To play one of these pieces, directors must petition and have Texas UIL Music approve the selection.
