StandHorn Posted October 19, 2021 Report Share Posted October 19, 2021 One thing I wish UIL would do is to split the bands into other areas when there is low attendance to area like in this case. So that way there is more intense competition. Which would make programs upgrade their shows just in case for a situation like this. Thats pretty tough with Highland Park and Forney doing so well this year. Poteet is always great and several other promising groups here like North Forney and Red Oak. My understanding is that three groups from Area C will advance to state. Nineteen bands qualified for Area, but seven are military bands that are not competing in Area. I had to do some digging around since 12 Area Participants usually means that there is no Finals contest. However, because of several programs opting to do the Military track instead of Open Class, those Div 1 rating at Region still count! If everything works out well This area is only taking 3 spots and Highland Park and Forney have been exceptional this year, so it would be tough, but I suppose possible.
