Even though we were only able to stay for one block and her band didnt make finals, it was one of my favorite experiences ever at a band contest and it meant so much to her. The first time I went to the State contest my boys were a sophomore and junior. So we pulled their little sister out of school for the day and drove down to San Antonio with zero expectations. The boys ended up with a bronze medal! And my daughter was hooked! She talked about that day/trip for a long time. And then come her sophomore year she was in the band and won State. Her brothers were thrilled because they knew they were part of building that foundation. Leander ISD has five bands going to State this week and next (thanks to the Covid-inspired all classes State year). If one more 5A band in Area H had received a 1 at Region, the number would be six. Has any district seen anything like this before? And how many medals will those five bands bring home? Lebanon Trail has a 100% success rate to going to state, they did so in both 2019 and 2021.
