Hawtenso Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Hey, after witnessing this phenomenal season, with records being broken and new bands having breaking seasons, what bands should we look out for next season, and do we have any expectations for the newest bands to break out? Quote
zoomer Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Bridgeland. that’s all I’ll say gmtb617 and Houston213 2 Quote
LHSbandDad Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Two Bands.... 1. Johnson HS from Buda!! They won Class A in Austin so I guess you could argue they have already broken out but it was their first year of existence so I am real anxious to see what Year #2 brings!! 2. Also, keep an eye on our LISD sister school Rouse HS!! Their first year in 3A last year they made some noise so I wonder if they will seriously challenge Cedar Park and Leander in 2020?? Quote
ChristopherRoden Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Bridgeland. that’s all I’ll say Agreed, after their showing at the cypress showcase Houston213 1 Quote
BandFan95 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I’m gonna say Westwood. They came along way this year, and plan on keeping the momentum going. Quote
Willig Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I would say bowie. Our senior class was super small and we’re returning a lot of talent and experience. We’re ready to have a return to form I feel. That is if everything goes right. Quote
gmtb617 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Breaking down some “bands to watch out for” by Region. Of course, I have a lot to say about the Houston area. Austin: Will agree with Bowie and Westwood here. Also, how about Lake Travis? They are good!! DFW: Despite going to college in this metro, it’s ironically the metro I know the least about (at least relatives to the number of great bands there). From what I’ve heard, I’d have to say James Martin, Coppell, and Haltom are 3 schools that are ready to break out very soon. San Antonio: Sandra Day O’Connor’s doing some really cool stuff. Don’t really know many other bands from here, unfortunately. Houston: Completely agree on Bridgeland; their 2019 production was GOOD! Other programs that I’m expecting to break out soon: ———— Cypress Woods (13th @ Austin AND Houston!!) Dawson (14th @ Houston and a solid showing at SA), Tompkins (11th @ Houston...although they’re losing numbers next year), Cinco Ranch (7th @ Cypress Showcase; very personal pick...I think these guys have been criminally underrated these past few years), Klein Oak (16th @ Houston with a really fun Train show!) And finally: the new Katy ISD school opening next year, Jordan HS! Their pool is Tompkins and Seven Lakes performers (Freshmen/Sophomores), so you can’t overlook this future group! Depending on staffing and their regional attendance, one of BOA classes A or AA will become much more interesting. TxBands:) 1 Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 In the DFW area, I am watching for Carroll, Wylie, James Martin, Burleson Centennial, Granbury, Wylie East and Lebanon Trail to continue to improve on successes this year. LHSbandDad 1 Quote

What I saw in Cypress showcase finals was very very impressive. Quote
Samuel Culper Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 There's a McNeil in San Antonio? Quote
gmtb617 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 There's a McNeil in San Antonio? That’s my bad. I was thinking of the band from Austin. Quote
Guest Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I would also like to add Westfield to the list. Completely robbed of better scores this year. Quote
principalagent Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I would also like to add Westfield to the list. Completely robbed of better scores this year. I’m going to be tickled pink when (and I mean when) they make it back into Houston finals. Quote
Guest Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I’m going to be tickled pink when (and I mean when) they make it back into Houston finals. Yeah same, tbh they had the performance levels for it this year, just need the right show. Quote
zoomer Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Honestly the smaller bands that are looking to grow like Rouse, Weiss, SFA, and Highland Park to name a few gmtb617 1 Quote
SpartanBandAlum Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I think Clear Brook will be a band to watch for at SA next year Quote
Guest Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Honestly the smaller bands that are looking to grow like Rouse, Weiss, SFA, and Highland Park to name a few Austin SFA or Sugarland? Quote
Guest Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I gotta bring up Douglas MacArthur. There rise has been a bit under the radar, but if you look at where that program was in 2015 compared to where they are now, its pretty amazing. Quote
Samuel Culper Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Honestly the smaller bands that are looking to grow like Rouse, Weiss, SFA, and Highland Park to name a few HP doesn't do BoA. What competitions do they attend? Quote
DrumCorpsGeek Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Pearland - Especially if they are going to GN Vista Ridge - First time they will have a GN design show TrebleMaker2 1 Quote
LeanderMomma Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I was really impressed with Dawson in San Antonio. They certainly got my attention! Quote
