2019 BOA San Antonio

I got my tickets in the mail yesterday.  

 

I'm a little bummed out. This season has been so amazing for Westwood, and knowing that tomorrow could be their final performance just makes me sad.  I'm sure I'll cry like I did last year.

I'm driving over this evening with the youngest child. We'll be there pretty much all day tomorrow. I did get the expensive tickets (suites), so I would have to come out to visit, which I'm certainly willing to do. Actually I have to in order to get my Team Texas shirt....

Drive safe!  It will be another "working" weekend; performing my usual pit crew duties (manning the generator).  Enjoy all of the great performances!  I will look forward to your thoughts during and afterward.

Question for those that know. If your band makes finals, is it the usual stampede to get in line for finals? How does that all work?

You have two choices.  Option A is as you described above with lines forming right after announcements and the stampede begins thereafter.  Option B (which I prefer) is to buy reserved seats in the upper deck for finals.  This allows us to go to the Riverwalk for dinner and stroll back to our seats in time for the first band.  Depending on your situation and seating preference, those are the main two choices.

I think they sell them at the box office on Saturday.  I have always bought in advance but I have always observed the box office open and people buying tickets.  There are usually empty seats in the upper deck so I don't know why you would not be able to buy reserved the day of.  Good luck & Enjoy!!

Oh my goodness, I just saw Not Hebron. That was the best music book I've ever heard. I'm still shocked. This somehow beats the musicality of Marcus '07, Spring '92 and '93, whatever show. I'm so happy that show is going to gnats. Maybe they'll get the highest music score ever in finals.

I can't believe this thing is already here. Time flies.

 

I haven't seen anything that really changes my opinion going into the contest. So far this season, Reagan has totally steamrolled over their nearest competitors. First, they beat The Woodlands by nearly 3 points at BOA Houston. The next week, they beat the clear, nearly-caption-sweeping BOA Austin champ, Vandegrift, by over 2 points at the TMC, and Leander by over 4 points. (Probably, CTJ would end up in this group, given their performance at Austin.) The DFW groups, Flower Mound and Hebron, are the only ones Reagan hasn't conquered yet. I suspect they'll do that at San Antonio, but the competition is stiff.

 

Besides a medalist group that contains Reagan and Flower Mound, I'm not sure how this contest will play out. 3rd-14th is kind of a toss-up, with Vandegrift the strongest contender based on early season results. I'm especially curious to see what CTJ, Hebron, and The Woodlands have been up to the past few weeks, as those three were quite dirty early in the season, and the shows have good potential.

 

I'll probably drop in as much as I can to watch prelims, and I'll try to catch the full finals performances. Good luck to all of the participating groups!

Every part of this contest is insanely competitive. Not only is top 14 going to be difficult, but even class championship is going to be hard to predict. Even just looking at the 2A class championship scene, there are multiple contenders. And that’s just the 2A conference!
