2016 Nationals

Recommended Posts

One thing I've noticed is that for some reason leander these past 3 years can never seem to get consistent music GE scores. I think it may have something to do with the not as well none minimalist music they choose but it's very frustrating and it's what caused cedar park to overtake them.

The weirdest part is that it's completely independent of their music performance scores. Leander won music in 14 but got a 13th in music GE. In pre lims of this year at San Antonio leander was second in music by only .1 to flower mound but received 11th and 9th in music GE. However in the opposite rounds of each of these contests the scores flipped and performance was low but GE high. The annoying part is that had the performance scores and GE scores ever lined up leander would have won both finals in 14 and prelims in 16.

Personally I love their musical selections but I don't think it's helping.

Really sad news out of Newburgh, Indiana this morning.

A member of Castle's band, their featured vocalist/second flute soloist, died in a car crash last night with her dad and grandmother. Another family member is in critical condition right now. It must be a hard time for their band family after their first ever appearance in Grand National finals. Keep them all in your thoughts. Just for perspective, it's only a band competition at the end of the day, and the memories and experiences you have with your friends are what you take with you - not medals or trophies or placements.

Carmel won prelims. Cedar Park did drastically better overtime. Calling it now, William Mason will get 2nd next year.

Mason has consistently improved their placement at Grand Nats every year since their first finals appearance in 2011. They're on track for 2nd in 2017 and then winning it all in 2018? Doesn't sound impossible.
