TRtrumpet Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 The two first trumpets are awesome, but our trumpet line is pretty young. Me and my section leader are the only high schoolers. The other 5 are seventh graders. On a 1-10 scale i'd give our line a 6 1/2. I wanted to try out for region and stuff like that on trumpet but my director wanted me to do it on sax... Quote
Xukaniz Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Well our 1st trumpets are flatout incredible...our second trumpets are probably 4 at best. Quote
twizzlaar Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 our trumpet line is very young. two seniors in all, out of about 25, and only one is 1st part. first part is 1 senior, 3 juniors, and 3 sophomores. 2nd part is 1 senior, 3 juniors, 5 soph, and 3 freshmen (6 didn't march). Its pretty balanced though. I guess i would give it a 6. last year though, we had the second best trumpet in the state, and other good ones. but the year before that, was amazing. 4 sr trumpets along with, the 2nd best trumpet in the state, and another really good trumpet player on first part. That was definitly the best trumpet section our band has ever had. too bad they weren't featured at all for being so good! which is odd, because our head band director plays trumpet! yhi next year looks promising though..... Quote
TRtrumpet Posted December 2, 2005 Author Posted December 2, 2005 Our second trumpets have a bad habit or spreading their tone... so at times they kinda kill what could be an awesome trumpet section. Quote
Fortisimo Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 We have 35 trumpets, so there are a few really weak members, but almost all of us are fairly awesome, and once you get about half way up there is a big clump of us who are really good, and are teh only competetion for each other at the City level (not sure about region yet), which is why we got 9 out of 12 spots, and then there is a big gap, then you have our 2 and 3 spot players who are juniors, and are friggin amazing, then there is a canyon in skilll and at the top you have our first chair, who is considered by many to be a god of sorts. TRtrumpet Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 Anyone else using mutes for any of thier concert band songs. We are using them for one of our songs. There awesome, they make us sound alot quiter tho so we have to play extra loud. Oh well, it doesent matter. When we need to be heard, we are heard. When we need to be quiet, we are heard. Quote

viccro Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Anyone else using mutes for any of thier concert band songs. We are using them for one of our songs. We used 3 mutes for our Holiday conert...3! In a 3rd band! He made us go and buy a cup and a harmon mute, but most of us had straight mutes already... Anyways, can anyone explain the difference btw the diff numbers and letters in mouthpeices? I know that they lay differently, but what does the size specify? On another note, does anyone know a good trumpet trio? I'm going shopping tomorrow...and I have no clue where to start! Our range isn't great...so nothing too hard is an option... Quote
TRtrumpet Posted December 27, 2005 Author Posted December 27, 2005 For our trumpet trio, were doing "Three Of A Kind". Its a pretty simple song, and its fun to play. The range is pretty mello thru out the song too. Anyways I have a queston. I lost a little screw on my trumpet. Heres a pic of what im talkin about: Is this Easly replaceable... if so how much do yout think it is. I lost it on the football field during a show. Quote
Xukaniz Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 that screw? Maybe 5-10 bucks, but I have personally never lost it. if you lose one of the valve caps tho, and you gotta cough up like 30 Quote
Fortisimo Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 try Bugler's Holiday for a nice, technical trio that doesn't weight in too heavy on the range. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted December 28, 2005 Author Posted December 28, 2005 that screw? Maybe 5-10 bucks, but I have personally never lost it. if you lose one of the valve caps tho, and you gotta cough up like 30 Oh ok, good I was expecting it to be more. Do you think they would have it at any music store? Or would I have to order it? Quote
Xukaniz Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 If it is a a music store that is known for repairing instruments, they will probably have it. If not though, you may have to order it. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 Random trumpet question: Whats your highest note? I think the highest note I can hit with a decent sound is the C above the staff... if i go higher it sounds like ####. Quote
Sockercon Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Trumpet- Yahmaha Allegro Mouthpiece- Monette 3b Range- pedal- F above the c above staff Highest note with a good sound- E Chair- 5th Quote
Fortisimo Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Double G, sometimes Double A nowadays. (In reply to three valve circus) Lol, I can pinch out a double C sometimes, but as you said, it sounds like #$^@... Quote
TRtrumpet Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 So... trumpets whats up? Anyone got an solos in the show this year? I do... but its a SAX solo. Hah yeah im a traitor. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 QUOTE (TRtrumpet @ Jul 14 2006, 11:05 AM) So... trumpets what up? Anyone got an solos in the show this year? I do... but its a SAX solo. Hah yeah im a traitor. How could you! Yeah im learning both the Hayden Concerto in E-flat and the Kennan Sonato for college. Probablysome arban characteristic studies too. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 its a SAX solo. Hah yeah im a traitor. TRAITOR!! Nah, I kid. We have no solos this year...sadly. We have a flute solo during our second movement. There was this trumpet feature that I am SURE was going to be a solo just because it is in the concert version of the song, but we cut that part out of the final draft of our arrangement. So depressing.... Quote
TRtrumpet Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 That sucks. That happened to us last year in our show. I love solos though... there awesome. If you read the "Carnival of Venice" thread you already know im attemting to learn the Carnival Of Venice (The Arbans Trumpet solo verison). It's coming along pretty good so far. I heard a Senior Girl play it at band leadership camp. It was amazing. Quote
Fortisimo Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 No solos, but we have two duets and 3 or 4 trios. The duets are both.... how do you say- orgasmic? But the first one is especially nice. You'll see... oh yes, you'll see. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I may have been wrong. While that solo in our show's closer was removed, there is this part that may become a trumpet solo in our psuedo-ballad. It's the counter melody to the flute solo in that part. It should be interesting... Quote
titancoaster Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 We have a flugel solo but will probably change to trumpet because there is no way to get it to the sideline Quote
Aegis Fang Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 there's a two measure trumpet solo that I'll probably be sharing with someone... whichever one of us feels like doing it that night, does it =p Quote
