I bet $100,000 that the looney toons come and do looney things to the marching bands 🤣

honestly not a half "band" idea. We could run it such that any money made goes to the bands.

In this state, you can't even bet on most professional sports, let alone any activities at the college or high school level. When my alma mater does bingo fundraisers, the students are locked out of the cafeteria. Although there is some talk of gambling regulations being relaxed, I highly doubt anyone under the age of 18 would ever be allowed to legally place any sort of bet. Additionally, marching band is an activity with the outcomes largely determined by subjective as opposed to objective reasoning. In football, most plays are not challenged by the referees, but there is plenty of discussion regarding bribes affecting reviews on the plays that are challenged. In marching band, every "play" is essentially a "challenge". There are already enough allegations of rigging contests [one area contest this past season comes to mind].

On a related note, the few times I have attempted to access the predictions page in 2024, it has not worked for me. I assume that it may have gotten shut down due to the possibility of betting.

The txbands predictions page? I haven't had any issues...

Knowing absolutely nothing about any of the shows this year here's some tiers i have for the best bands in the area:

S: Bridgeland, Cy woods, 7 lakes, CyFair, JET  (Most likely making state)

A: Langham, Jordan, Tompkins, Cinco (in contention for state if strides are made this year)

B: Katy, Waller, Paetow, Cy ranch (Shot of making state if big strides are made this year)

I'm assuming you are referring to not able to look at contest results and the predictions from other people... When the last contest has ended for our game, we basically turn the game into silent mode til September 1st of the following year. The only thing you can do during that time is look at the previous years full rankings of the predictors.

I’d say it’s nearly impossible to predict that last 5th spot, but I see where you’re coming from!

JET made it to state twice in this area, in 2018 and 2022, and the same applies to Tompkins in 2020 and 2023. Cinco would have qualified for state in 2021 and 2024 if there had been more than 25 bands. After what happened last year, I believe all the bands in this area will step up their shows to achieve their maximum outcome.

I agree with the exception of JET. I do not hate or anything, But they in Katy marching keep falling behind both Jordan, 7L, and sometimes Tomkins. They have done the same for the past 2 years in the area. BridgeLands, Cy Woods, and CyFair are a lock 7L we will see Jordan beat them at the Katy cup last year.

Depending on how seasons and shows play out we could see the return of Cinco or another smaller band like Langham Creek into the mix. Area I is one of the most competitive areas every year for this reason.

Would definitely say 7L is a lock, at least should be considering the made state finals

Well in Area I a state finalist could end up 19th,  still make finals(somehow?) and end up getting 5th at state finals.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen next year LOL

They have had good years and bad years. Jordan has been swinging and getting close every year and the same with Cinco. Hard to say but they have been 4/5th most years all it takes is one judge. The only reason I say Bridgeland and cy fair and cy woods are locks is b/c they have been consistently top 3.

Well, Cy Woods was 4th last year and Tompkins was 3rd, but yeah.

Who would be a realistic big shocker to make it to Area finals(if any) and which band would surprise you if they fell out of finals, realistically? Not to be disrespectful, but if Morton Ranch cleans up just a tiny bit of everywhere, I see them getting 10th or at least top 12, and a shocker would be Tompkins, since they've really only been on the edge in this area other than 2023 but they have finals DNA where it would be very surprising if they fell out.

I think Langham and Cy-Ranch need to atleast have consistent showings in area finals, but a usual suspect that I could see falling could be Katy.

In my mind 100% Paetow! They’ve been steadily climbing the ranks, moving from 16th in 2022 to 13th in 2023 and 2024. I’m betting on Cypress Ranch to make it to finals.   Fingers crossed that this year we can get 12 finalist and 6 state spots. 🤞

Yeah, I mean no disrespect either, it’s just seeing the way Katy has kinda started to clash with groups such as langham and cy ranch, maybe Paetow soon :)

Yeah, to be honest, any of the bubble bands (Langham, Mortan, Paetow, Jersey, Cy Ranch, and maybe Katy now) could go any way. I do so hope we see a mix up this year, maybe it's Jordan or Cinco getting a state spot. I would love to see some new faces in the mix.
