Awesome that you get to be there!! Proud former Pride of Pearland band mom here, and beyond excited to see the band doing so incredibly well. My son and I both are excitedly following the competition this week! Big thanks to everyone here who keep us all updated on everything!! 🥰

I'm a Pearland band mom -- we haven't heard anything yet. When we left, they were still hoping that the rain and lightning would stop enough for the last 6 bands to be able to perform. It looked on radar like it was clearing, so hopefully they were all able to have their time on the field. That was at about 5:30-ish, and they were hoping things could resume by 6:30, conservatively. Then the judges were/are going to just rank based on prelims. Then I assume they have some way of letting band directors know?? Then they will send us a text. Not sure I'll know much about the other bands, but I'll post back when I hear anything! -gina-

Does anyone know about when the prelim performance order is usually released for Lone Star Preview?

All I can say is, we are in shock that Pearland made finals, lol. I mean that in a good way! We are a UIL band -- we only do Lone Star Preview basically for the extra practice time. But the show must be a little weirder this year and appeal more on a BOA level... which I guess makes sense since we only got 3rd at Galena Park which is usually a very strong contest for us. We'll see what happens at the UIL contest next week. I have to say, the Leander show is my new favorite show I have seen in years. I LOVE it. It's different without being bizarre, there are no oddball props you're scratching your head at, the music is awesome, it's just a great show. :-)

Little bio for me, my name is Gina and I'm a single parent to a high school Junior. He plays alto sax for the mighty Pride of Pearland Band, and this will be the last State year before my son graduates. We're very excited!! The Pearland Band is very UIL-centric, and we don't do any BoA-circuit stuff. I'm sure hoping they make it to State again... next to the football team winning the State Championship in '10, that was the most exciting time I can remember. I can't wait for football season to start -- It's like the best of both worlds for me. I'm a giant football nut as it is, then I get to watch my son and the band march at halftime, then get to watch more football. It's like the perfect evening. Can't wait to talk to some other band parents here! -gina-

Not sure if any administrators even read this forum, since the last query someone made in May is still unanswered... But I was wondering if it might be possible to add a "band parent" forum? Someplace we can all share our own stories and questions and such. My son is going into his 3rd year of band now, and I know it has taken me all of these past two years to learn the ins and outs of everything related to band, relevant to being a band parent. Would have been so nice to have a resource such as the forum I'm suggesting -- the learning curve would have been much smaller! Thanks for reading! -gina- 　

Is anyone at all going to be posting/tweeting/blogging live from the Sam Houston State University marching contest tomorrow? (10/22) I'm not going to be able to make the trek from Pearland all the way to Huntsville tomorrow to cheer on my son in the Pride of Pearland Band, but want to try and get updates. Just hoping someone will be there to report back to those of us at home. Thanks!! -gina- 　

Holy cow... so even if they were magically all on the buses by 11:30, they still won't be back until close to 3am... and have to be back up 3 hours later to get to school???

Hate to sound so ignorant, but I'm a band mom very new to all this... So the 5A schedule that was posted, is that all what is considered preliminaries? When do the finals happen? Go Pride of Pearland!!
