  1. And I think the Lewisville ISD Big Three are poised for a fantastic year too. Marcus is finally coming back to their Drinkwater-Era levels of success, with solid show designs and arguably the best core sound of any group out there. They’ve been building better each year these last two years and naturally, next year is poised to be a break out year for them. They could be an early front runner for the state title with how clean they have been and if they do a more difficult show next year. Hebron is off their second medal at Grand Nats and they’re cementing themselves as the musical powerhouses of BOA. Each year they’ve gotten a more difficult musical book and they’ve finally developed a visual marching program that is as clean and difficult as their music is. The only thing holding them back is visual design and a slightly stronger visual design next year could be the final missing ingredient for Hebron’s first major win. Flower Mound is going to be HUNGRY after placing below expectations last year. The staff at Flower Mound is world renowned and will definitely bring the mojo with their show design next year. They will be playing and marching with vengeance and looking to return to the success they have had the past two state trips, as well as hoping for their 4th super regional win. All signs point to FloMo rebounding for their strongest year ever. Imagine a LISD mega band...FloMo’s show design with Hebron’s musical and marching difficulties and Marcus’s cleanliness...that’d be the first 100 point show!!
  2. Yes exactly. Hebron’s game uniforms are over a decade old and they likely won’t get new ones until possibly 2023
  3. The Hebron Band tweeted a video yesterday that was of a great quality high cam from their show. It was an unlisted link from ThatWasLoud, and they have many many marching band and DCI videos from their own equipment. It was a much wider shot than Flo and didn’t have the same Flo audio (much boomier like the audio was shot from the camera up top) and no Flo logos anywhere...yet it was still copyrighted and taken down by Flo? That’s got to be illegal right? Since FloMarching didn’t own the video and never owned the video, as it was shot with a separate camera, not ripped from the stream, how can they take down a video for copyright?
  4. And some CTJ kids too! Heck half of Hebron was engulfed in Vandegrift by that point. So cool to see the Texas comradery
  5. I’m thinking... Vandy Avon Hebron Leander Carmel CTJ TWHS Mason ...
  6. CTJ is very crowd pleasing but I’m not sure the judges will be as much of a fan. Great showing for Texas but I think Mason Carmel and Avon were better so far. Thank goodness there’s semis and finals
  7. Went to Hebron’s parent send off today...they’re a lot cleaner. So much better musically and their visuals are a lot tighter though they seemed to be missing people in the drill (probably because it was rescheduled from Monday). The show was kinda iffy for me last weekend, but just being a little tighter visually and musically was enough to boost it for me. And they weren’t even wearing their gray uniforms!!
  8. I know this isn’t the point of anything stated above but I think the era of state vs non state year shows is over. 2016 Flomo was not only the best BOA show that year, it also won state. Many programs are doing just as difficult, albeit maybe slightly shorter, shows on their state years as they are on their non state years.
  9. Hebron had significant timing issues which I know impacts that “POP” in marching forms—if everyone is marching at a slightly different time, even if just slightly off, complex sets are never going to set. However, with 2 weeks of cleaning, that can be easily fixed.
  10. Was watching bands today in my free time and I just realized that both Hebron and SFA used A Million Dreams AND the Voctave arrangement of Impossible Dream in their shows. I thought it was interesting because they were completely different approaches. Hebron has a fairly simple and a more deviating version of a million dreams (from the original) for their ballad with more solistic moments whereas SFA uses it very powerfully and beautifully in their opener. Hebron uses the extremely complex and musically intricate (almost carbon copy) of the Voctave Impossible Dream throughout their show, most notably in the closer, whereas SFA uses a more deviating but simpler version as their wonderful ballad. Has there been a time when two elite programs (both super regional finalists this year) had such a similar music book? And who utilized it better? It’s so interesting to see such different yet effective approaches to the use of both songs.
  11. Did anyone notice that Hebron completely overhauled their props inbetween prelims and finals? In prelims everything was solid grey and in finals they had some blue space stuff on the sides of everything.
  12. Best general effect: Reagan Best visual: Vista Best music: Hebron Best visual concept: FloMo Best show idea/concept: Leander Best solo: CTJ king soloists Best feature: Hebron brass double tongue feature Best musical selection: TWHS Most innovative show: Reagan or TWHS Most original concept: FloMo Best crowd appeal: CTJ Most underrated: The Woodlands Most improved: LD Bell Best colorguard: Marcus Best pit: Vandegrift Best drumline: Vandegrift Best brass: Hebron Best woodwinds: Hebron Best prop: Timber Creek’s newspapers or Vista Ridge’s giant turntable Best uniforms: Vandegrift Best guard uniforms: Flower Mound Best overall pre-show: Leander Best overall opener: Reagan Best overall ballad: Leander Best overall closer: Hebron
  13. Hebron’s music placements don’t surprise me. As challenging as a show as they have, covering the field from endzone to endzone most sets, and with the insane music depth they have, they have many timing issues. There were points where time was nonexistent and although they didn’t tear, it wasn’t tight at all. They are phenomenal and probably the best sounding and most technically advanced band around right now, but none of that means anything if time isn’t there. Good news for Hebron is that it’s easily correctable with 2 weeks time and will help their music score and GE score exponentially.
  14. Usually directors get info before finals so there’s some potential truthfulness if the sources are reputable
  15. People trying to say money buys everything, your top 7 and bottom 7 will disprove that instantly.
