  1. Dripping Springs and Sharyland attended US Bands instead of BOA. Sharyland beat out Dripping Springs in prelims (DP did not attend finals). While the judging and scoring is different than UIL and BOA, it's still something to look into. I have a feeling that whatever happens Monday will be very different from what we expected. I can't wait
  2. Scores: *Sharyland=9 *Pioneer=10 *Rio Grande City=12 *Brownsville Lopez=25 *Brownsville Pace=29 Brownsville Porter=33 Gregory Portland=35 Victoria West=38 Mission Veterans Memorial=39 Laredo Cigarroa=45 Very big gap between RGC and Lopez. Pioneer got first in prelims with 9 points while Sharyland got 14 points. RGC was 6th and prelims and moved to 3rd in finals, while Porter was 3rd then 6th. Congrats to all the bands that performed. Can't wait to see what happens at state.
  3. How has the competition been so far? Any stand out bands that could take the last state spot?
  4. The same things happened in 2017. Hopefully it won't affect the bands too much.
  5. Is it for sure confirmed that there will be 12 State finalist? 2017 had 10 finalist while 35 bands were attending.
  6. I believe it could also be a good thing. Some bands have never performed in an indoor field, and that could throw some bands off. Having a performance in the alamodome could help the bands get a sense of what they will be performing in at state. A downside could be that they might not get enough practice time before state since I believe most bands will stay in SA over the weekend. They could practice at another school, but it's not what they are used to.
  7. I wasn't trying to attack you lol. I even posted my own predictions with Victoria West taking the last state spot. I just have a feeling that more unexpected things might happen.
  8. I truly believe that the last state spot is up for grabs. Victoria West and Gregory Portland were very close in 2017, but honestly anything can happen. Donna made state in 2015 and didn't make Area finals in 2017. I'm real curious as to who will make state this year now that Roma unfortunately can't attend area. We can even have 2 new state bands this week. Pioneer, Sharyland, Lopez, and RGC made state last time and are amazing band programs, but it's all about how they perform that day. One bad run could be their last run. Sorry to be this dark lol. I just can't wait to see what happens this week.
  9. We could possibly be looking at 12 bands making State Finals if I'm not mistaken.
  10. Finals:*Pioneer *Sharyland *Lopez *Rio Grande *Victoria West Brownsville Veterans Memorial Gregory-Portland Brownsville Pace CC Richard King Laredo Martin *State Prediction If Roma gets the appeal, then I would put them to make state. If not, then we are looking at 3 new schools to make Area Finals and 1 new school to make State. This is based off of the results of the 2017 area marching contest. This is only my prediction, I have only seen 3 of these shows so anything can happen. Best of luck to all the bands competing this weekend.
  11. I didn't attend the contest, but these are the top 3 placements 1. Roma 2. Pioneer 3. Sharyland
