Oh I know!!! This is our last competition season and I’m definitely trying to soak it all in. And figure out how to still be involved when she’s gone next year! -

College park had to drop. They are dealing with a lot of kids out with flu. Unfortunately it just was too many to try and still perform without. Spring hs dropped as well. Not sure of their reason. -

Such an inspiring story! The video circulated through our band family’s Facebook posts this past week. So fantastic! -

😇 I gotta be confident in my kids that they’ll not drop to 3rd place. It’s going to be a great day tomorrow… hot, but great!! I hope everyone has a great run and is happy with their performances. 🤩 -

This would be pretty shocking to see…. Not saying it’s impossible, but I’ll say it’s pretty improbable. -

I agree, I thought Oak Ridge looked great! I can’t wait to see as they add to it in the next few weeks. All the bands locally suffered from the afternoon rains the last 2 weeks here… so they are playing catch up trying to catch up on practice time lost. Paying for morning rain and afternoon sunshine these next 2 weeks! -

The Pit probably wasn’t brought out because it was still raining. They almost left the woodwinds instruments in cases in the stands. There was a lightning delay and steady rain the entire first half. Cleared up enough to pull the woodwinds instruments out for the performance and then dry and put them back away for the second half. -
Yep it doesn’t hurt as much since they’re one of the top teams in the state.
-
And we are getting slaughtered. 🤣

The Woodlands plays North Shore tomorrow night. Should be a good game. Two teams that are expected to be good. And two bands that are pretty decent.

2022 BOA San Antonio (Nov. 4 & 5)

And the best thing to do through prelims is seat hop as people move from the prime center seats… just move on over from the 10-30 yard lines that are available if you don’t make it at door opening- towards to the center ones you want for the final block. Lol. -

Depends on what’s more important to you- centered seats near 50 yard line? Or more comfortable to get to and closer viewing? there are no elevators or escalators- it’s all steep steps to get up to the upper deck. I try and get near the front of the upper deck- any higher and I feel like the nosebleed seats are just too high up. the ga seats fill up really fast though… so if you plan on eating outside of the stadium when they clear the stadium between prelims and finals- by the time you get back and in line for the general admission lower seats- you likely could be over at either 20 yard line…. One person probably can get an empty seat in the center area easier than a group though… -

You should!! I recommend staying somewhere you can walk over to the dome… it’s easier than dealing with driving and parking and hiking around from the parking lot. Lots of good food along the river walk- but honestly you most of the time want to be inside watching as much as you can. Just plan on fueling up with a good breakfast and live off of stadium food. If Leandermom comes down she usually manages to smuggle some cookies or brownies into the txbands guys in the press box so find her and get a treat. Lol. -
As a parent we are looking forward to meeting the new directors. Mrs Perez has shared with us that she has been meeting with Mr Frederick and has been involved in helping with the transition, and as needed going forward. I think there is definitely a feeling of relief from the students. They were starting to worry about getting someone hired- in time for them to be ready for summer Band. The structure and support from the boosters is there and we think he will do a great job starting us on our next chapter of TWHS Band. Hopefully an assistant will be announced soon and that chapter will be ready to be written.

We’ve had a strong booster community effort to both take the time to mourn the loss of the directors- and savor the last few weeks of the school year with them, and to be happy for them and the hard choices they made to put themselves first in their lives. We also have talked a lot about welcoming in the new directors with open arms and looking forward to the unique things that they will bring to our program. It will be fine. We have confidence in people wanting to come here and work with our program and are hopeful the hiring process will find them before the school year is over- so everyone can meet them before the summer.
