Does anyone know if GA prelim tickets will still be sold at the Alamodome Box Office as you walk up the day of the event? Could only find the link to Ticketmaster on the BOA site. TIA!!!

I have to say I really like the new judging system. I think it’s great that percussion, woodwinds, and brass get their own set of scores. Gives bands a better indication of what they can improve upon musically and gives programs that achieve excellence in those areas a tangible reward. Amazing performances yesterday by all the bands. Looking forward to an exciting finals!

Wow, I see what you mean. Looking at the finals results above, if Cedar Ridge would have received at least a 5 from J3 (instead of a 7?) they would have placed 2nd. Interesting, especially seeing that the other music judges had them at 1 and 2. So I guess that begs the question, what did they do to J3? Haha Seriously, I think the 5 best finals performances advanced but always keeps it exciting when you have an outlier judge. Lol Congrats to all the area bands for a day of amazing performances! And good luck to all the state qualifiers!

Congrats to all the finalist!!! Really enjoyed all your performances. My thoughts? I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more taiko drums!!!

Proud Cedar Ridge Band Mom here! First off, wanted to congratulate all TX bands on a fabulous season! So many amazing performances! Have to give our Raider Band a shout out for making history this year with a 10th place BOA SA finals placement. It was also our highest BOA finals score ever. This is especially exciting considering the first competitive run with our full show on the field was Friday at 4pm during prelims.

Proud Cedar Ridge band mom here. We placed 11th in prelims with a 9:15am prelim time. The Woodlands placed 12th with an even earlier prelim time. Not easy to do! Let’s not pretend performance time doesn’t factor into scores as well. As a result, there will never be a perfect system that makes everyone happy. We definitely know the disappointment of placing 13th in State prelims (2016) but I feel that disappointment is partially responsible for our growth the past few years. Couldn’t be prouder of our kids for making history this year. Well deserved in my opinion. Congrats to all the TX bands for another fabulous season. We all weathered the storm together!
