  1. I've been waiting for this competition for so long UGH why can't it be here already?!?!?!? I just want everything to be settled and not-chaotic, ya feel?
  2. Reagan's Ballad from 2015 is by far one of the most beautiful and serene ballads I have heard
  3. You guys hit the nail on the head! It's all about promoting the arts, especially in areas where bands may not get to enjoy the 'full' BOA experience like those in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston get to.
  4. What a day! It's been unbelievable. Really. Everything these past couple of days has been unreal. Here are some very quick last minute thoughts I wanted to share.. #TeamTexas was incredibly strong from Whitesboro all the way to Cedar Park. Were there surprises? Yes. Do we wish that the Eagle would be flying south this year? Oh heck yes. Even though we did not place as high as we wanted to, we are just incredibly grateful to have this experience that not too many bands are able to have. The fact that four of the thirteen finalists were from Texas says a lot about our state (When was the last time four bands from Texas made BOA GN Finals?), and I'm glad we were able to rep Texas. We showed everyone the standard of Texas marching bands - a standard that rises every year. And it can only get better from here. Huge congratulations to Cedar Park for placing the highest out of all Texas bands. Winning is great and all, but it is the experience and what you take away from it that truly helps push a band to the next level. Next year being my final season with the Johnson Band, I cannot wait to see where this band goes from here, as well as all the other Texas bands. Thank you everyone for all the kind and encouraging comments about our show. It was extremely fun to perform. May we come back stronger and better than ever next year!
  5. Aside from results, I just wanted to say that this Grand Nationals venue is out of this world. It is unlike any music convention out there. It's similar to TMEA All State in San Antonio during the month of February - countless numbers of aspiring musicians performing their hearts out, composers lurking out and about, various booths (You can get a lot of free stuff at the booths!!), and so much more. Seeing the iconic Lucas Oil Stadium, in person, is surreal. Performing in it, that experience is unmatched. It's also incredibly inspiring to see bands from all parts of this country like California, Ohio, Tennessee and be able to converse and understand what band is like for them. And to top it all off, the weather is spectacular. Texas really needs to chill with the mid 80 degree temperature in November I really wish more of Texas HS Bands are able to experience what #TeamTexas is experiencing right now. It is a huge shame Grand Nationals is not closer. I'm super excited for what adventures tomorrow holds! Wish us and everyone else luck!!
  6. Leaving tomorrow! We had a really great final rehearsal in this amazing weather. Everyone is super excited!!
  7. I completely agree. New judges, new week, and new stadium will only help them. I think they are the dark horse candidate to medal if everything goes well, but we shall see. I'm super pumped for this week.
  8. Jealous! Would love to have him work with us! But that's okay because we have Jarrett!!
  9. As a member of the CTJ Band, I must admit that I absolutely love Reagan's show, especially that beautiful opener. They really have been making a comeback this past year and a half.
