  1. Not that it really changes anything, but there were 6 TX bands at grand nats in 2016. Cedar Park, Leander, Ronald Reagan, Claudia Taylor Johnson, James Bowie, and Whitesboro.
  2. It was actually the third time in Grand Nats history that the top 12 all broke 90 in semifinals. The first time it happened was in 2007.
  3. I'm friends with someone at Vandegrift, they do not plan on returning next year.
  4. It's definitely a bittersweet moment for Bowie. Not a lot of people believed in them after San Antonio, but they did everything they could in the week going into Indy, and it showed! I feel great as an alumni because on one hand they did way better than they did in 2016 (which was my senior year with them) but on the other hand I'm devastated for them because they were 3 tenths of a point away from being in everyone's conversation again. But you know what, this is an extremely good sign for Bowie's future! I hope the next time they go to nationals (which will hopefully be sooner rather than later) they'll have an even greater show, get those visuals taken care of, and make history! Edit: Bowie was 12th in prelims. Ugh they were so close...next time they go they're definitely going to be in finals. Please come back to Indy soon!
  5. Semi-Finals Results to 22nd: 12. Fishers 90.20 ----------------- 13. James Bowie 89.90 (Big sad, but also super happy for them that they almost made it back) 14. CTJ 89.0 15. Dripping Springs 88.95 16. Kiski Area 86.90 (HUGE point drop off) 17. Centerville 86.10 18. Morton 86.00 19. Homestead 85.20 20. Lawrence Township 84.60 21. Walled Lake 83.40 22. Bourbon County 83.25
  6. Even if Hebron doesn't win, they've got to have jumped up a place or two from semi's. That was an even more sensational run than earlier in the day!
  7. Round Rock's show has grown on me the entire season, I love the progression this program has made since 2021! Best band of the night so far!
  8. I am in pure disbelief. I did not expect 3 Texas bands to miss finals. Ugh. Heartbroken for James Bowie, CTJ, and Dripping Springs. I am very interested to see just how close it was to the cutoff for finals. To be honest, I did not expect for some of those other bands to advance, but that's why I'm not a judge. Congratulations to Hebron, Pearland, Keller, Round Rock and The Woodlands for moving on to finals. James Bowie, CTJ, Dripping Springs, we love you, and we are so proud of the work you've done this whole season. You reperesented yourselves and the state of Texas well.
  9. My dream list for finals is all 8 Texas bands, Avon, Carmel, Blue Springs, and William Mason. Do I think it'll happen? No. Fishers, Brownsburg, and Bentonville all put up a good fight for finals. I'm secretly hoping there's a 4 way tie for 12th so we get all 15 of those bands in finals, I don't want to say goodbye to any of them! That's how good this Grand Nationals has been!
  10. Pearland's show was so gourgeous! I love that they used new moon in the old moon's arms, makes me think of Lawrence Central 2001. I'm so thrilled that Pearland has quickly grown into one of the premier groups in the country. Team Texas did us proud! Hoping all 8 place well!
  11. Keller's one of those groups that I think a lot of people underrank in their predicitons, but then they almost always show up when it matters and blow everyone away. Fantastic moments in Keller's show, their sound is by far their best asset!
  12. WOODLANDS!! How is this a high school?! SO good. They might just pull of an upset, you never know!
  13. Great showing from Round Rock! It's always heartbreaking to lose your perfect Grand National Finalist streak like Round Rock did in 2021, but they should have nothing to worry about this time. I love it when programs make a rebound!
  14. Every 10 years since 1993 a band from Texas has won Grand Nats. I hope the pattern continues this year, with Hebron getting the Eagle. That performance was SENSATIONAL!!! They want their 3rd time to be the charm, and I think they are well on their way. Absolutely incredible!
  15. That was a spectacular run from Dripping Springs! They've performed exceptionally well this whole season, and it's awesome thing to witness.
  16. Bowie, you've come so far in so many ways. Regardless of if you perform again tonight or not, know that you've made Texas proud and you are still among the very best groups in the nation. I can't wait to see what your future holds! ❤️

  19. Vandegrift has done it all! UIL State Champion, TMEA Honor Band, BOA Grand National Champion, and now BOA San Antonio Super Regional Champion with a new record high score! The greatest of all time!

  21. Great performance from LD Bell, and what an improvement they've made! From 22nd last year to a top half finish. Just goes to show you a lot can change in just 1 season!
