  1. I think that there were a lot of corps that stepped it up in '07 compared to '06. As far as being shafted, I know how amazing the Bloo hornline is, heck, we did win brass at every show we attended for about a month, if not a little longer, up until semis. When we dropped to 4th, it was kind of a shock, I'm not gonna lie. But i wont say more on that, there's nothing I can do about it anyways, except work harder and put even more heart into every future performance.
  2. This will be my 2nd year of marching with the Bluecoats Contra line. I really dont have many stories that are forum appropriate, but I will say that the drum bus was definitely amazing.
  3. thanks for the complement, but we still have a long way to go before we are at "the top."
  4. Yeah, Blue Stars had an aswesome hornline this year. i got to hear them warm up when they were outside the member sleeping area at Canton, and i was SERIOUSLY impressed. cant wait to see how they do next summer.
  5. My winner is 1989 Phantom Regiment '93 Star, '04 Cavies, '89 Vanguard, '05-'07 Bluecoats, '00 Cadets, '95 &'96 Madison are all AWESOME though.
  6. I just want to say thanks for recognizing the bluecoats' hard work that is being to into Criminal and that being apart of it has been great. and yeah josh and alberto are both great players and awesome guys to march with.
  7. yeah, some of our tubas are pretty dumb...but they are really hilarious so it works out. we have both extremes, the smart guy whos not as crazy and then we have the insane idiot. it balances out...
  8. i had a great time when i went. theres a lot of people to meet that are lots of fun and the leadership weekend is really cool and you learn a lot of great life lessons.
  9. dang...TSO is so freaking amazing. i absolutely loved going to see them. and im going to see Blue man group on my spring trip to chicago.
  10. 2005: Disney World (what a good first spring trip) 2006: Chorpus Christi (beach front condos were freaking amazing. i was in a ten person room it was BIGGER THAN MY HOUSE! man it was awesome) 2007: CHICAGO!!!! we're gonna see the blue man group perform. its gonna be awesome. i might be able to see a good friend while im up there too. so im really excited.
  11. Of course i loved Hebron's show, but other than that i loved LD Bell and Bowie this year.
  12. i tried out for the blue devils recently and it was pretty simple, as long as you stay relaxed and focused, you'll do fine. then again, i didnt make it to the camps despite having a really good audition. it was pretty competitive in the tubas there, a few guys in college showed up, and me being 16, i dont think i had a great shot of making it anyways. oh well it was a fun day.
  13. i'd love to play all brass instruments, especially trombone. and id love to be on the Bass line or play tenor on the field. but alas, i have no percussion skilz.
  14. i personally thought marcus' show was really good, but i saw it more times than i could ever stand, so yeah, im kinda sick of it, even though it is a very well prepared show.
  15. first off, all that stuff just said is disgusting! lol. well i heard about one of my trumpet friends did a crab dance on his way back to his chair after his last etude, just to mess with the marcus trumpets in there. he got 1st chair with a marcus chick in 2nd chair. i also heard that another kid did a DDR type dance in the audition. and yet another kid laid down and just chilled for a while and decided to wail some high notes from the floor. us tubas though, we mess with the music. this one guy always screwed with the fermatas. he would take a HUGE breath and hold out the last note for at least 15 seconds. it was so great! and another guy took the last note on etude 50 down an octave. auditions were really fun this year, lemme tell ya.
  16. yeah they always mess up our drum majors' names. they are lauren stelzl, justine pak, and mary ann o'brian. the announcers pronouce it lauren stizle, justin park, and mary ann o'brain. crazy people!
  17. 2nd chair top band at school. 5th chair overall at region (one chair away from area! gah!) and i beat the 1st chair guy at my school for the first time (he got 6th). i think there were around 50 tubas that tried out in phase 1.
  18. marching, definitely. i love playing great music in the concert setting, but i dont think i will ever have as much fun in band as i did this past marching season (UP! DOWN! LEFT! RIGHT!). but im also looking forward to some relaxation in concert season. both seem to come around when im beginning to get sick of the other.
  19. in our first year 5a, we are 10-1! so far. next game is vs. cedar hill, who pwnd us in our first game. its lookin to be a good rematch though. (hopefully)
  20. my favorite is most definitely phantom. SCV is a close 2nd.
  21. there are really so many great bands in texas that i dont think any list i could come up with would do all of them justice.
