  1. The Small Drum Corps Association (www.thesdca.org) is expanding into Texas, and is looking for people who may be interested in being involved in community based Drum and Bugle corps, marching band, etc. Per their website: "Small Drum Corps AssociationThe Small Drum Corps Association (SDCA) was started in 2007 by Chris Ferrara. Chris started indrum corps as member of the Chicago Royal Airs beginning in 1959, and is a member of the 2012Class in the Bugler's Hall of Fame. The SDCA came about in response to smaller corps looking for a gratifying venue where they couldperform. The SDCA also wanted to fill a niche to encourage the reorganization of corps, no longerin existence, by forming new community drum corps. There was also a need to be flexible to allowany size drum corps to perform. Membership and performances are open to all classes includingjunior, senior, alumni and all-age corps. In addition, membership is open to drum lines, color guardsand bands.SDCA Members may also belong to multiple organizations such as DCI or DCA. The additionalperformances provided by the SDCA can only better a corps for DCI or DCA competition, if thatis the goal. The SDCA supports these opportunities through a friendly people's choice competition. As a member driven association we work together to aid one another in performance quality.Based in the Midwest, the SDCA recently expanded and now has Regional Directors in the Eastern,Northern, Central Midwest and Southern California. This opens up opportunities to perform, withoutthe expense of traveling great distances with limited time available. " If you wish to find out more about the SDCA or have a group that would like to join, send me a pm, or go to the website to contact Chris Ferrara.
