Just realized that Wills Point, Burnet, nor Fredericksburg made finals tonight. When’s the last time Wills Point missed State Finals?

Yeah. Broken Arrow is scary good. This was their send-off performance with the full show on the field.

So glad to see Grulla make State Finals for the first time since 2014 when they came short from a Bronze medal. Also congrats to Calallen for advancing and representing South Texas. Great job everyone.

What happened to Kennedale? I remember them being good a few years ago. It’s a very strange SMC for me not seeing Atlanta or Princeton on the list. I miss them being in 4A. I hope Princeton finds success in 5A! No Rio Hondo or Port Isabel is also weird.

Long shot, but would anyone happen to have a recording of Round Rock? BOA SA or UIL State.

I really do like Dobyns-Bennett too, and while I don’t see them medaling or winning any caption here, I could see them finishing higher than most think. They have a beautiful show. It’s just gonna be very tough winning music when you have Carmel, Broken Arrrow, Flower Mound, amongst others.

Dang Roma comes out in 13th overall, just barely missing finals. They also got 13th at BOA Waco, just missing finals. I'm sure they gave it their all this season after receiving a Division II in 2019 due to a penalty for exceeding the eight minute allotted performance time, thus unable to participate in the Area/State contest for the 10th consecutive year. In 2017 they got 11th, just barely missing finals. But on a more positive note! Congrats to every single band! This 5A contest was truly amazing. So many great programs!

I agree, it bodes very well for CTJ, I feel like their show is more BOA-oriented than for UIL. Haven’t seen Ronald Reagan in person, but for me it feels like their show lacks GE, at least from the videos. I’m sure that’ll change for me next week when I see them live.

Will anyone be at this contest for prelims? Or is there a way to find out the schedule for finals before 7:30pm?

Does anyone know if the draw for finals performance order is random? Or do they split it with the top scoring bands performing last? I want to attend this contest to see Flower Mound one last time in person (Since I won’t be attending Grand Nats 😭) but I get off of work at 6:30pm on Saturday, I live an hour away from Mesquite and don’t know if I would make it in time if Flower Mound were to perform first in finals at 7:30.

Since you've seen Broken Arrow live, how do they stack up against the other top groups that you've seen live this year, like Vandegrift, CTJ, and Ronald Reagan?
