  1. I think it would be a mistake to underestimate Reagan - the changes, based on what I have seen are all going to drive Reagan to a higher level (no disrespect for the previous director) - they are bigger and stronger and have a director that is energized and driving their program. hey could surprise everyone - I am looking forward to their appearance in Conroe next week.
  2. I have noticed that - stayed a spectator and did not get into the fray - in McAllen today to see the shows - lots of great bands that we do not normally see in BOA and it is interesting that MFA/BOA added the BOA Austin 2-3 years ago and has now added the McAllen show this year and has 30+ bands today. the largest growth of BOA is in Texas and you could argue that the SA Super Regional is more competitive than GN - would love to see Broken Arrow trek to the Alamodome in October - would bet that the next BOA addition would be a regional in San Antonio earlier in the season - like they do in Indy with a regional and a super regional
  3. Looking forward to another great year - in just 48 hours we will begin to see the early shows for the BOA cycle with McAllen and Austin shows opening up but the real tests will coming in the following weeks in October with the Conroe and NTX show. it is a shame that Grand Nats does not rotate sites - would love to see it in Texas and see the flood of Texas bands that could challenge the Avon/Carmel domination as they can appear every year in their back yard looking forward to great season and good luck to all
  4. while CTJ is dealing with some personal tragedy, they will be stronger and feed off this as a motivator for their season out of respect. they have a very difficult show that will take time to mature, but they have a very talented staff that will guide them through the process. no disrespect intended, but CTJ will walk away from this show with all captions and first place overall - the competition is just not there to challenge them
  5. There are many that play "Hard Music" - but when you look at the music and combine it with an insane drill you find the truly best bands - I think we saw last year that CTJ had both of those and pulled it off very well with a regional and super regional win along with a UIL medal I think there will be many attempting to do the same this year - Leander, Woodlands and Bell come to mind as ones that many try to do the same and it should be a great year
