  5. A friend and I have decided to hold some faux regionals in the offseason to tide us over until the real season starts. These are a fun way for us to practice our judging skills and see how programs that don’t usually compete head to head compare. We take the latest videos of the previous season, randomize the list, and place them. Our first regional contained 12 bands: Pearland, Wylie, Cedar Park, Leander, MG Johnson, Klein Oak, Clear Brook, Keller Central, Burleson Centennial, TW College Park, Azle, and Bridgeland. The results were as follows: 1. Bridgeland (GE) (vis/tie) 2. Cedar Park (vis/tie) 3. Pearland (music) 4. Burleson Centennial 5. Leander 6. Keller Central 7. Wylie 8. College Park 9. Clear Brook 10. MG Johnson 11. Azle 12. Klein oak Would love to have recommendations of 10-15 groups you’d like us to compare

  7. The Sound of Springtown Marching Showcase will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024. This contest will feature area-style judging and will have a "Prelims" and "Finals" format. We will also have a standstill Drumline and standstill Colorguard contest. The contest will close after 20 entries, but we will keep a waitlist as needed. Entry fees are $400.00 for the Marching Contest and $75.00 for each standstill contest. You will receive a $50.00 discount if you choose to have your students participate in both standstill contests for a total fee of $500.00. You can complete your entry by following this link: SOSMS Entry Form Please contact scmcphetrige@springtownisd.net with any questions or for any additional information. We hope to see your bands next Fall for the 2024 Sound of Springtown Marching Showcase!
  8. 7L show “for whom the bell tolls” could be the same vibe as their 2021 show I think. We will see how that fares!
  9. Last week
  10. Here are my predictions so far (I'm basing these predictions on last season's results, and other past results from the last few years): 1. Lone Star 2. Rock Hill (they could for sure be 1st but they seem to do better with the BOA scoring system over the UIL system and the UIL Area format is used for this contest) 3-4. Argyle/Lebanon Trail (very close at Area between these 2 last year) 5. McKinney 6. Lake Highlands 7. Lakeview Centennial 8. Lovejoy 9. Memorial 10. Garland 11. Independence 12. North Forney/Anna/Benton/Rowlett/Burleson/Celina (could be any of these schools) There are some schools that I don't know as much as others like Jasper, Benton, and some other schools, but once I find out more about them, I will revise these predictions, especially when the season gets closer.
  11. Also New format for this year!- There will be two divisions for competitions: the Small School Division and the Large School Division. The top four small schools will advance to the finals, and the top 12 large schools will advance to the finals. (If a small school is in the top 12, it will have the opportunity to be placed within the large school or small school division for finals competition.
  12. Well a new update has been made to the contest and this one adds another 6A band into the mix, and this could possibly shake up predictions!- New bands added- 3A- S&S Consolidated HS 6A- Rock Hill HS
  13. Hendrickson will be attending this contest despite missing it last season, I feel like we'll be seeing a ton more bands here this year than last year.
  14. Lone Star Preview is hosted by The Woodlands High School Band at the Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah TX. This year 2024 it will be October 12th! Registration is still open, but spots are filling up fast! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/TSGssVATPCbHe42D/?mibextid=WC7FNe
  15. Forney’s is being revealed at Band Banquet on May 4th, I’ll post it once it gets announced!
  16. I know the directors at Forney talked about going to this contest instead of Prosper. I have no word if they decided for or against it, but I’ll ask eventually.
  17. I remember looking at those sheets and seeing a good 6 bands with the same score in one category lol
  18. Such as 2022 where the judges were all over the place
  19. Area judges can be very funky sometimes, love the occasional, 1, 16, 7. 12, 3 for a bands ordinals.
  20. Bridgeland is safe. Other than them, I don’t know that anyone is a “lock” with area judges and such a rapidly rising tide in West Houston. We’ll see!
  21. Atleast we know bridgeland and cy fair are locks for state!😂
  22. Bridgeland won’t reveal until at least may they release late every year
  23. Paetow has been growing steadily over the past few years so it possible.
  24. I think we’re going to see a new wave of finalists this upcoming year, I think Cinco Ranch could be in/out with finals depending on how well this show goes, but I’ll bet on them being in finals. I’m mainly looking at Paetow and Langham Creek to break into finals. I’m just not sure who gets pushed out of finals.
  25. Such as Jordan… I would love to see some new finalist too. It almost been the same finalist since 2020.
  26. I’d really like to see some changes, also a certain favorite to make state who could possibly pull an upset and make history for their program, Atleast in the time they’ve been in 6A.
