Two observations from the above list.

1. I’m sad that neither Bowie or TWHS world guards are attending this one.

2. Evidently Cedar Park has moved down a class from Open to Scholastic A. Was this by choice or enforced by WGI? I thought they were very good last season and I enjoyed their show a lot.

Probably choice. A new director will usually give the ensemble an opportunity to move down. It allows for a director to rebuild the way they want.

That sounds reasonable. I bet they’ll be moving back up in a few years and I guarantee Vista Ridge will be right on their heels. Vista’s guard is still very young (in existence, not age of the kids) and I’m guessing we will see phenomenal growth from this program very quickly.

I know it’s nearly two months away (Feb 29 & Mar 1) but I also just HAVE to comment on how quickly the upcoming WGI Austin (CG) event has grown. This year they had to split the contest into two venues, with Scholastic A prelims being held at Tom Glenn HS and all other classes prelims being held at Rouse HS. All finals will be at Rouse btw. So exciting to see this one grow so large so quickly AND to see all four of the Texas World Class guards signed up for it. (CTJ, TWHS, Bowie and Dripping Springs).

I also forgot to mention that the first TCGC Austin of the season will be held January 25th at Westwood HS. This one has a TON of great groups signed up including Ronald Reagan, Leander and McNeil in Open Class, and Bowie and Dripping Springs in World Class.

Also, that same day, TCGC Houston will be hosting a contest at Klein Collins HS and there will be some fantastic groups there as well including TWHS World Class guard.

Yeah, baby. About to get my winter guard fix ON!
