BISD Marching Fest 2018

Recommended Posts

Keller has been a consistent attendee for a while now. This competition almost fell of the map when only 9 bands attended in 2016. Luckily 2017 had a bigger turn out. I would hope to see more competition at the top but this is always a good competition nonetheless...if it doesn’t get rained out ;)

My list based off of me stalking a ton of band calendars:

Abilene

Aledo

Cleburne

Abilene Cooper

Coppell

Duncanville

Grapevine

Highland Park

John Horn

Keller

Lamar

Mansfield Legacy

Mansfield

Looking pretty stacked, I'd say don't count Abilene out quite yet.

One more Mansfield in there, Mansfield Summit will be there. Apparently a lot of bands are checking this stadium out with this contest in prep for 6A Area B Area, as it will be here too.

Broken arrow invitational went from having 30 bands to 13 last year

I believe Keller has attened this competition every year it has been held. In the early years Dan Potter (of BOA fame and glory) was the announcer. Fun times with various "dancing baby" versions and Godzilla clapping on the end zone video screen.

And historically, Finals have been rained out half the time.

I love this lineup! This is taking place at the same stadium as Area B, and as a non-BOA competition may give some great insight for what will happen when considered together with results from this weekend.

5 6A Area B schools made DFW finals: Keller, LD Bell, Timber Creek, Waxahachie, and Prosper. I am not suggesting that these 5 are all certainly going to make state, but all are in a good position. This competition will give us a great look at the other bands that are fighting for a spot. Coppell, Keller Central, and Duncanville are all competing and Richland and Haltom are giving exhibition performances. These 5 bands all stand a great chance at nabbing a state bid.

Plus there is Flower Mound and Keller, which should both have great performances coming off of Gold and Bronze medals at DFW.

I hope we get to make predictions for this contest!

My pre-contest list of likely finalists, sort of in order:

Locks (1-5):

Keller

Keller Central

Probably Locks (6-7):

Aledo

Mansfield

Not locks but fairly safe bets (8-9):

Summit

Trinity

The "Wouldn't surprise me" list (10-13):

Byron Nelson
