In response to jmatthews, I work with Friendswood and do not want to come off biased or anything. While I will not state my predictions for our band, I will say that we have a strong group this year and I am excited to see how things turn out at this contest.

OK, I'll say it.    Friendswood looked and sounded amazing as they always do.

Thank you both for the responses! I think it will be interesting to see how Dawson does at Lone Star this year. According to last year's results, Dawson did not make finals? Wow, that is really surprising. I'm not from the Houston area, but I have heard it said that Dawson and Friendswood have a friendly "rivalry." Is that true?

On a random note, will Spring be going to Grand Nationals this year?

I think there is a bit of a rivalry.  I haven't noticed anything negative.  More a matter of two competitive 4A schools in the same area.  Dawson is in it's 7th year (I believe) in existence.  Friendswood had been established as a quality program for some time and set the bar very high.  Dawson has established a quality program in a relatively short amount of time.  Competition is good!  It makes everyone work harder.

I watched Friendswood perform this weekend at the Galena Park Marching Festival. Their show design, marching, and music in the first two movements are especially excellent. However, their final movement is very raw and probably just put onto the field. For that reason, I do not see them winning Lone Star Preview this week, but I do believe they will be in contention by the UIL State Marching Contest.
